Personally I'm considering Alaska fans also. Went to a shop and he recommended it as it is a "mid-range" fan that is using "better motor and bearings" and "Taiwanese motor" as compared to other cheaper Malaysian brands like Bestar/Alpha/Fanco. The hugger design is nice and the blades (Alaska Aspen/Alaska Fern models) are also more curved and causes more wind to blow, and the wood pattern is the prettiest. I've a friend who's using the Alaska Bay and Aspen models for a few months with no issues. Their remote control also not as ugly as other brands. Also, their latest Fern III uses good quality Samsung Dimmable LED while other brands may not have dimmable. So will strongly consider. PM me if you like to know which shop I enquired from. Note: Also found this other brand - Decor SEA Fans - seem to look exactly like alaska but more expensive (?!?).

Hi, hope someone can help with this.

Can I install a ceiling fan onto an existing false ceiling? Did not provide for electrical point previously too.

I was interested in Alaska Craft and went to a shop to see. While the design is nice, the airflow is not strong even at max speed so didn't buy in the end

Depends on some contractors/IDs as well.

For my case, my resale place alrdy had false ceiling and was also thinking of installing ceiling fan onto it. But my ID was unable to directly do it or rather he recommended not to coz he dunnoe whether previous owner had provided supporting wooden brackets or not. Although it was unlikely for my case due to room not having ceiling fan at all. Only way to know is to cut a hole bigger than your ceiling fan mount and take a look. If dun have, then u need to install wooden brackets that are connected to the concrete ceiling.

Once done, the false ceiling may be sealed back or ID may wait till your ceiling fan is mounted onto the wooden bracket before sealing the false ceiling till the ceiling fan shaft.

Thanks. Would they have to cut a very big hole to install the brackets? Concerned that the patching up later will be too obvious on white ceiling? For electricity, they have to lay wires from somewhere too i imagine? Hoping the false ceiling will not look to patchy...

Depends on how big are the wooden planks? Not too sure on this as i decided to completely remove the existing false ceiling so that the fan can be mounted directly onto the concrete ceiling. The costs for hacking off vs inserting wooden planks were abt the same anyway.

As for patching, u will have to repaint it anyway, at least 1-2 layers, but majority should be covered by the ceiling fan hub above. For cables, they can pull from existing, presuming the false ceiling have some for downlights. Unless u want a specific switch just for ceiling fan and not linked to existing downlights, etc.

Does your false ceilings have down lights? One way is to tap on the light for power. Disable the Light and use the ceiling fan light instead.

it does work with Google Home. However the only option you have directly from GH is, On/Off.
PO Eco fan remembers last state so if the last state was Fan speed 6, light warm - when GH turns it on, it will be at that state.

Huh… then one of the ceiling lights will always not be working…
