I was thinking the same. Depending on the processor, it might be an excellent choice for a work (2nd) phone, especially if it stays in the $300-ish street price range.

Rumours are both have the same Exynos 1280, which makes the A53 poorer value since it won't have much else to differentiate it from the A33.

A33 difference is like 90Hz vs A53 120Hz, camera and slightly smaller screen that all (actually I felt it don't need to exist too as it's too close / overlapping to A53).

No idea is A53 a real upgrade from A52s because of the CPU, additional 500mah battery and no 3.5mm jack.

Now Samsung has done the Oppo/Realme thing.

I remember a few models in the past few years where the replacement "newer" models were worse than the older models they meant to replace. One that comes to mind is the Realme 6 vs Realme 7.

To be very fair, that SD778G is an excellent performing processor with pretty good power consumption too. It's hard to beat that kind of performance in a $400-ish phone that has a nice 120Hz AMOLED Gorilla Glass 5 display, and it can comfortably last 1.5 days. All very good reasons why the A52s is superb value for consumers even when compared against this year's Ax3 models.

We shall see how good is this new A33/A53 exynos 1200/1280 compared to A52s. Later maybe Q3/Q4 release a refresh of A53s with the new SD778G Plus

Samsung releasing too many model that is hard to keep up with instead of streamline it's portfolio to just a few model and size but still better than Xiaomi that release phone like no tomorrow then later rename for non-China market, different spec for same model etc.

That means I expect the Sg prices to be $498, 598 and 698 respectively. Quite the jump in pricing, maybe the a52s will be a better deal while stocks last

Seem like quite a number of website compare it with A52/A52 5G, and not a lot of countries get A52s 5G previously especially USA.

a72 not realeased in sg because it will be too similar to the s series with its 3 times zoom and cannabailse its sale.
I tried v hard to get the phone.
end up only carousell Indian shop has it. at 550 I tot it was okish.
then chip shortage come and all become 650.
then a52s released with a good chip so buy that.

don't think a73 will be released in sg

anyway look like a step back without the 3.5mm jack and Samsung soc.
I would grab the a52s while stock last.
