Read Maybank grant rebates based on merchant name not mcc so wondering anybody tried and got the rebates

Rebates can be granted base on merchant code or merchant name. 5% rebate for fuel is seem to be merchant code base instead of merchant base. Its unlikely for them to search for all petrol station merchants and grant rebate base on that. I used it with Maybank F&F and got rebates for all my petrol top up.

if you read the t&C already explained clearly:
"The 5% cash rebate is based on petrol transactions charged to a petrol station located in Singapore or Malaysia classified under MCC 5541 and MCC 5542 (“Participating Petrol Stations”)."

go figure.

I am wondering why you bother with a card like Duo when F&F give more rebate in more categories.

I only use it for petrol how much F&F gives? Duo gives 5% rebate with no minimum spending

F&F give 8% with min $800. Groceries, dining, Petrol, Telco, online shopping. For a normal household with car should be able to meet it easily.

Lol just got my 1st round of cashback, how to use the money in it? I set my Payment Source to 'amaze wallet' and then?

If i want to check-out a site eg. Amazon, and i want to use the money inside the amaze wallet, what should i key in as payment? :)

Just key in the amaze 16-digit number?

The other scenario is spending categories which F&F does not cover. Foreign hotel stay is the one that comes to mind immediately. Potentially hundreds of dollars... Which Mastercard to pair with?

Do Amaze charges post as foreign transactions or SG ones?

Amaze post as SG transactions. Hotel stay can use DBS woman card to book online in SGD.

Thanks. In that case, Maybank Duo is useless except for petrol.

What about in-person payments at hotel abroad?

If no Standard Chartered relationship, another card that offers cashback? Can CIMB World Mastercard be linked to Amaze?

I am shocked ppl still use DBS in 2022. F old school bank trying to be tech company offering shitty card deals.

https://milelion.com/2022/05/06/psa-amaze-fx-rates-now-higher-than-spot-mastercard-rates/
what some people experiencing are well gathered by some others as well, the rates has quietly increased in the background.

in short in terms of FX, the rates still beats the 3.XX% fees charged by banks for time-being. but if Amaze slowly creeps its spread to about 3+ ish range zone, then that makes them not too far diff besides converting txns to online. with the lowered Amaze cashback to 0.5/1% and once banks starts excluding amaze totally like what DBS is going to do then their value will be stacked against them

If banks start excluding them from rewards, regardless of how they price their FX, that's it for Amaze. 3+% above MC rate is not a big deal when you are getting 3-4mpd or 5+% cashback. There is a reason people continue to use credit cards for overseas transactions, rather than cards like Revolut or YouTrip.

I have been actively using Amaze card for FX transaction, and I can really vouch that the rates have gotten from bad to worse..

Over the past few days, Revolut constantly gave me 3.14x SGD to RM.. Where'as Amaze barely even 3.11x

A whopping 1% diff from Revolut..
