Can I check whether it is an actual demo unit or just the shell...? want to go down and test the camera before deciding...
It's actual unit as metalB said. But only the black.

The unit was very warm when I used it though... fortunately I didn't have the camera close on me despite recording with hdr on. Really wish they waited awhile for the SD8G1+

Yeah long ago we know the problem... And I don't think they can easily swap processor (they might sign processor contract for a few years advance ) But Sony kept it in check hope they able to tame the heater dragon.

Anyone passed by Sony NEX store? Is there a demo set there?
Yes they have a black demo unit already. But the demo software is really irritating, keep activating and I can't even try the phone function properly.
Also the back of the phone becomes hot easily and the 120hz drops to 60hz. It could be that it was plugged in at all times and the demo keep forcing itself to open.

They also told me they have stock already and you can purchase it.

That's bad (the heat issue). I'm okay if it heats up during intensive tasks like using video or watching YouTube. But if it also easily heats up during normal usage (surfing web, browsing photos, Instagram) then I think I'll have to pass... :(

I don't think you should be worried about that, no reviewer has mentioned that so far. It's probably only noticeable when you record on 4k 120fps for longer than five minutes, which is understandable given the small body when cameras also suffer from this problem, or play intensive games (which is not a concern for me because I don't game).

Demo is forced to run. You can also program it to run but might erase parts your your phone memories / contacts.

Nope. Xperia1III doesn't heat up like this I don't think the IV heat up will for normal operations.

I know..but that's not what I am talking about. Usually for the display unit, you close the demo by swiping up to get to the home screen so you can access the normal phone function, like the home screen...but in this case, it opens immediately once you close it, so I have to keep swiping up to close it for like 5~6 times before it allows me to try the phone. Which it opens again just after a few seconds, can't even navigate or try the camera..felt like I was fighting with the phone.:ROFLMAO:
Anyway, it is probably just this specified unit in this outlet. Hope they had fixed it.

It's samsung fault. They are the manufacturing Fab. That's why SD8G1+ is now tsmc. Tiagong less global warming with it
