Anyone been to Desaru recently? Looks like there are many new developments.

a couple of big names hotels/resorts.. and a water theme park. Pretty much the usual beach resort kind of stuff, but not cheap, almost close to SG prices.

If one is going for the experience, best to take advantage of the current $98 promotion. I will consider driving there to be my first choice if the plan is to stay at Desaru Coast. At least with a vehicle, I can still have the freedom to drive to Pengerang or Sungei Rengit for other attractions.

Visit Sungei Rengit for the seafood . The small town has many old-style shops and its own Marry Brown. When durian is in season, the fruit is sold openly out of the back of trucks. British WW2 coastal guns can be found near the Pengerang jetty that had boats plying the route to Changi Point.

The ostrich farm is a highlight for children. The Lotus Resort at old Desaru has a water play park.
https://lotusdesaru.com/facilities/resort-facilities/?page=13136Those new to Desaru may like to know that before the new Desaru Coast development was launched in 2019, there has always been the old Desaru since the 80's, which is a cluster of resorts now consisting of the Lotus, Sand & Sandals, and the Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort,
