Is it specifically catered for new citizens who still want to show off their caste and region they came from??

Now dialect also anyhow mix liao... how to put?... hokkien marry teochew then got son marry mayb another mixed Hainan hakka... then children put what?

Parents’ dialect will be included in digital birth certificates issued from Sep 1, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said on Friday (Aug 12).

This comes after ICA received several queries regarding the non-inclusion of this information.

Really is what's the point behind this change? Mostly for those can speak only Mandarin n English. What dialect don't even know.

Think almost 3/4 of the population hardly can speak dialect fluently. May as well put Singlish instead.

no wonder my collick so happy, next time can proudly show off her indian husband's dialect on the childrens' cert. jskm.

But dialects continue to be banned on tv except for purposed that the govt allows...

Go ACS or any secondary school and ask who knows how to speak dialect, not including body parts or vulgarities
