- Some devices don't have SA support.
- Some devices have SA support, but needs to be enabled per-carrier basis.
- VoNR support might be needed for M1 5GNR NSA.

Think of it as VoLTE and VoWiFi support.

LTE deployment was much smoother as it is data-only network, VoLTE deployment is much harder as it is putting voice on top of the existing LTE network. VoWiFi is to compliment VoLTE, relying on the same IMS Core, to enable Voice Calling over WiFi instead of cellular network.

Again, similar issues is happening on 5G.

Most carriers in the world is using 5GNR NSA mode, at least for the foreseeable future. Therefore, many devices that have 5GNR has enabled NSA only.
5GNR SA is currently on early deployment stage, therefore manufacturers ain't interested in rolling out SA support for all carriers, hence using software update to progressively update (if they are willing to do in the first place).

VoNR might also be the hurdle, as 5GNR SA devices would have to fall back to LTE or 5GNR NSA if they want voice call and the device/network doesn't support.

This is why first gen devices is problematic, and paying for the new technology tax might not always make the most sense.
Unless your aim is to flex about the new technology, you are better off waiting until it's matured.
so who do i bug for the support? Sony or M1? LOL

Since M1 have ceased 5G NSA service, wonder how is it like so far on only 5G SA network only?

Quite good actually, as long as you have the reception.

The issue is, in commercial buildings it's still hard to get M1 5G (Standalone). But when you get inside building, I've seen 1Gbps before.

Outdoors I've seen 600-700Mbps too, but most of the time 300-500Mbps cap.

But uplink is actually not much diff from LTE tho, damn disappointing.

SingTel / GOMO 5G users would remind others that their NSA Network can hit 1Gbps too, but be reminded that you're comparing apples and oranges (colours match up too), and you're comparing a single operator vs two operators sharing the spectrum lot.
Plus, coming from the overly congested M1 4G, the current M1 5G speeds is alr a godsend.

also, speeds will go down as time goes by, it's a matter of when and how steeply.

>>>> you're comparing a single operator vs two operators sharing the spectrum lot.

cos M1 and Starhub not willing to invest individual unlike SingTel

from this already SingTel is a clear winner

Did u even get the history of this collab?

IMDA wanted to issue just 2 nationwide license for n77/n78.

If either one were to go solo, what about the other?

Remember, all three are GLCs. Dropping one would harm the "competition", which SIMBA Telecom (not a GLC) can easily snatch.

Can you don't think everything is pro-SingTel when it was all planned by external party?

Does M1 sim only plan from M1 direct is better coverage/speed and consistencies than MVNO (like CL/MyRepublic etc)? or same?
Thanks

so m1 is still poor data coverage and inconsistency either for MNO or MVNO right? Thanks
I have not used any of their MNO or MVNO. I moved 4 lines out of M1. So far no one miss them. At this moment, I am still using their broadband. That one so far quite ok

i am Using M1 SIM Only. Everything works normally. All the app icons on my phone works when I launch the application. For me no issues as I don't go around doing speedtest and demand the fastest speeds. i'm not bothered about Telco A 4G speeds can be 200++ and M1 only can be 100++. Videos still loads, music still plays. End of the day as long my phone works, good enough.

I have Circles Life as well (M1 MVNO). Similar experience with M1 SIM Only. It works.

But airplane mode? 😆! Nice thing about m1 is their joker clients still feel their internet is doing well despite not doing well.
when I was with m1, my internet was showing 5 bar but when you starts surfing www.hardwarezone.com, the page just never load inside mrt. Not sure why. Don’t understand why either. 😆! If you don’t surf, it looks like working perfectly

Yes bro. I understand not everyone have problem but a lot of ppl has problem. If it is 100% then m1 would have close shop. Hence I agree some ppl will have ultimate customer satisfaction like what you have which is really good
