If you never had any account with them before, probably have to wait for a physical mail to come?

You can also try calling their hotline. It's fast, but business hours 9 am to 7 pm.

According to them, there is a large number of new account applications. One will have to wait for at least 1 to 2 weeks to receive the 6-digit Activation Code via SMS as compared to 1 business day stated on their website.

Suddenly they got so many customers and they are under-staffed most probably. Hope this does not translate into higher operating cost and they start to reduce their interest rates subsequently to cover that haha

Applied on 5 Aug, gotten call plus sms to activate my ibanking on 17 Aug. Hope that helps.

Yah i think they shld update their comms to manage customer expectation and take away 1k reqd. If not trf 1k with no updates from bank seem abit scary.

This is a good lesson for those not to close an account completely if you previously already have it.

I have mentioned these a few times in other posts. Don't close account just leave it there if you intend to shift monies out to other bank which got better interest. But readers told me nowadays online open bank account very easy no worry so finally I see the problem. Easy to open yes but how soon it is opened is another matter altogether. I guess my previous strategy work out for me.

You received a bit later than me. Their new mobile app minimum for Android OS is 8. If yours is lower they offer the website version to use instead. This I feel is a much better and gentle approach from CIMB vs DBS who go for 9 instead.
