i dont think applecare+ covers loss of phone. only telco's phone insurance does - eg. starhub smart support etc

Hi. May I know what is the diff for Apple Care + / Apple Care plus 365 in between A Lab & QCD and Apple Store? And how much for it? Just bought the Pro 11 and thinking of purchase the Apple Care plus.

sometimes this can be a risky move, so have to decide on risk appetite, as anything between time of purchasing the device until getting AC+, if any accidental damage, it will end up losing more.

That’s true. But it also more or less guarantees a battery swop at least.

My experience is that I will need a battery swop at around 2.5 years mark.

Also I am careful with my phone, the warranty needs to cover the period when I pass to my kid, who is not as careful

sometimes can be quite strange. drop to almost 80% at the end of the 2nd year. but then just stuck there for super long so not for sure

True. Just that my children will use it for 2 years after me. So risk is higher on year 2 and 3. Hence the decision

Last time, AC+ will cover 2 years from the time the phone was purchased. Hence, it makes sense to buy AC+ together with the phone so you can have 2 full years of accidental coverage.

Now, the 2 years for AC+ starts on the day you purchase AC+. Given that Alab and QCD allows AC+ to be purchased 364 days after the phone is purchased, you can technically have 3 full years of warranty instead of 2. Of cuz year 1 will not cover accident damages and is covered under Apple’s limited warranty.

My experience shows that I can claim a battery change after 2 years and before 3 years. So it also helps to secure a confirmed battery change (which you can request for a swop via express replacement service for a refurbished set if you want, ie no more scratches etc)

Thanks, very clear explanation. I’m curious how do these authorised service providers able to sell and activate AppleCare+ after the first 60 days though? Also do they require you to bring down the phone physically to their shop for inspection before they allow you to purchase?

Yes. You need to send it down for checks.

Just purchase immediately la…later day 2 drop phone then bang balls….why have apple are from 2nd year?

Some people just prefer to take calculated risk. For me I have never had an apple device that spoils within a year could be that the way I use the devices. that doesn’t mean accidents or future devices won’t spoil itself within a year, but I’m willing to take the chance.

If drop it. Just change phone. Less heart pain….battery I remembered is $99. If you can afford a $2000 phone, you can afford to pay $99 for a battery in year 3 la.

But no history of accidental damage does not mean it would remain the case going forward.

If you are aware and accepting of the risk then that’s your decision to take.

Changing phone every year confirm no problem la. I change a few iPhone in 1 year. From iPhone 13 green to iPhone 13 Pro to iPhone 13 Pro Max to iPhone 13 mini to iPhone 13 Purple. No need applecare also. Shiok shiok
