Ok the “expire 2027” physical card still works despite more than 2 years of inactivity.

However, it seems like PayDirect feature doesn’t seem to work even though my card is added into my TNG app. By right, VEP RM20 should be deducted from my TNG eWallet but it didn’t happen… deduction was made on the value in the physical card
Yesterday my partner drove into JB - 1st time since borders reopened.

At JB's ICQ, this time the Toll & Road Charge were both deducted from eWallet. Previously, just before Lockdown, for the first 3 trips after VEP RFID installed, only Toll was deducted from eWallet, Road Charge was paid by tapping.

However she had to tap to pay/Exit...she said when she tapped the cost of the Toll was shown - but when I checked the app, there was no deduction from Card's balance (only eWallet was deducted as I said).

Maybe she drove too fast thru & the RFID only had time to detect/process the Road Charge. So next time will ask her to slowly move 😂

Just sharing.

My partner's car had VEP RFID installed before COVID.

Recently my partner has been going into JB, & since her TnG card - linked to the app has sufficient funds (more than RM 200) - I said no need to top up the eWallet (which has less than RM 15) but use the balance from that card.

Her eWallet has sufficient balance for Toll (RM 2.37) but not for Road Charge (RM 20) but I presume TnG tech is smart enough to deduct from the card's balance.

2 days ago she drove in, Gate didn't open - normal to her - so she tapped to pay, Gate opened & drove through. The app showed Toll was deducted from the eWallet (RFID Payment) & Road Charge was deducted from the TnG card 👍👏

Yesterday's trip to JB, the Gate opened automatically for her to drive through (😱 1st time since installing VEP RFID). The app showed Toll was deducted from the eWallet (RFID Payment) but no deduction for Road Charge from TnG card.

The eWallet app flagged saying need to top up eWallet to clear what is owed (RM 20).

So based on the 2nd trip, she owes the app RM 20. I believe this is because she didn't tap (as the gate opened automatically) to trigger deduction from the TnG card.

If I go to RFID in the app, it says RFID is suspended since yesterday which was the day & time she went in without paying RM 20. 🤦‍♀

If the eWallet has insufficient funds, then the gate shouldn't automatically open but should continue to close, forcing the driver to use the TnG card to tap to pay. Unfortunately TnG tech may not have considered this.

https://soyacincau.com/2022/09/18/t...w-to-ewallet-app-update-deduct-card-balance/#
... Dated 18Sep2022 🤦‍♀ only recently fixed/know of this issue!

This update is for when the TnG card is used to tap to pay...

In summary: how to make deductions from the card's balance even when it is linked to the eWallet.

Touch ‘n Go (TNG) is probably one of the most fragmented payment systems in the country... Agree! It is a scam card!

Once PayDirect is disabled, tapping your TNG card will only deduct from the card’s balance...ensure that the card has a sufficient balance at all times

In my case I separated eWallet & card...ie my partner uses the eWallet app in her phone while I've the cards (2 cards) linked to the app (without activating eWallet) in my phone - we carry one card each. She uses the eWallet (VEP RFID auto deduction) when crossing to JB & the card for purchases & parking fee.

FYI

I have already received the VEP RFID tag and the VEP JPJ website show the status "Tag issued and activated". However, 1 week already, the VEP RFID is still not link to the TouchnGo ewallet apps, when click on the RFID icon, it did not show any RFID.

You have encounter this issue? How long it take for your VEP RFID to link to the apps?

If I remembered correctly I didn't have to wait to be connected.

The only issue I'd was the two payments were separately deducted ie one from eWallet (RM 2.37) & the other by tapping with the Card (RM 20)...& the Gate was not auto flipping up.

If the Gate is not auto flipping up, press the intercom at the side & tell the officer. I did this & for the next entry Gate auto flipped & the 2 payments were auto deducted from the eWallet.

Maybe you should intercom even when the RFID has not activated & let them fix the issue.

Maybe do a reset to the app (clear cache etc) & power cycle your phone.

I recall previously some peeps had similar issue. The VEP was registered via NRIC and the eWallet was passport. Something like that and thus there was a mismatch

I know I didn't use that way to confirm the linkage - forgot how I found it was linked.

I suggest that you continue to go into JB, at the Immigration don't tap to pay but move forward slowly to see if Gate auto flip for you. If it does not press the intercom button to inform the officer that you have already registered for VEP & let him tell you what to do next.

Can Road Charge RM$20 and Toll charge use the TnG card to tap and pay?

I just got an email to complete VEP registration to collect VEP RFID tag. I assume need to make payment and fix appointment go in for them to install or something? Or izzit they mail to u and u self-install now.

Any incentive to do first or wait and see if they change something again... abit skeptical since this thing has dragged and dragged.

Contact tng side change to match VEP side.
I received VEP tag recently by post. When register TnG eWallet, I input the SGP NRIC ID. But the eWallet account verification step requires photo shot of SGP passport. In the ID field, the eWallet App automatically recognises and fills the passport ID. Following suggestions online, I attempted to use NRIC ID number instead, but account verification always failed due to "Documents do not match"... Any suggestions? Thank you so much. It's said VEP and eWallet can link up only if NRIC ID is used in eWallet.

During the early stages of VEP & using TnG for VEP, there were some suggestions in the VEP Forums not to perform Verification for the TnG app.

In my case my partner uses TnG eWallet, without any TnG cards linked to the app. She also didn't perform any verification for the app. She is registered for VEP.

For my part, I didn't create an eWallet with the app but I've 2 TnG Cards linked with the TnG app. I did verification & during verification I'd to take a photo of my passport & provide an email. I am not a registered VEP driver - I don't own a car.

Account Verification is mandatory when linking the TnG Card with its app, but not mandatory for eWallet.
https://support.tngdigital.com.my/h...s-Account-Verification-eKYC-mandatory-for-me-
TnG Card Account Verification requires passport which is in conflict with VEP Registration which requires NRIC. Because of this conflict your VEP RFID eco (during application or maybe even after approval) may be disrupted.

So now my partner carries one card & I carry the other one, for parking & tapping to pay eg at Watsons.

Having the app into 2 different phones, we manage the balances in each: hers for her eWallet & mine for the 2 TnG Cards.

So if possible better to separate the eWallet & Cards.
