Funny thing is SIMBA number can receive SMS/calls from my working SIM. And I can use the LTE data.

So frankly I have no idea what is even going on :ROFLMAO:. Looks like we facing roughly the same issues.

Already emailed SIMBA to help me on this
I just got my sim card 2 days ago, and popped into my spare iPhone. When setting up iPhone, iPhone can't verify my number via SMS or call because my number "is not valid".

Brand new. Signed up on Monday, picked up on Tuesday and received email saying it is activated on Tuesday

But when it comes to signing in iCloud to verify number, iOS say cannot verify via SMS/call because number is invalid

Nope, can't be. I was signing up for a new iCloud account.

Called but said number not available

Shows SIMBA logo, 4-5 bars and LTE

That's why I find it weird

Thing is, I can't even get past the "introduction phase" because iOS can't verify my phone number when creating a new Apple ID, so I can't even go to the "Welcome to iPhone" and then home screen

SE 2022. Should be supported since SE 2020 was supported

Still cannot

Set up without Apple ID, select VOLTE, then tried to set up Apple ID

Number still invalid :(

Let me guess... Your SIMBA TPG number starts with 89xx or 889x? Something like 8945 or 8897?

Starts with 805x

Just curious, why did you ask about this bro?

My guess is, after looking at IMDA Number Allocation plan, those "new fresh" batches of numbers like 89xx, 889x, are probably fresh numbers that is not "registered" with Apple. I have had this issue before few months ago, then I signed up for a new line with TPG starting with 8761 and it worked with Apple. 8761 is listed in the IMDA Number Allocation documenting that it is allocated to TPG SIMBA.

805x looks like it's new batches of numbers as well. If you contact Apple, they would say TPG SIMBA is not supported telco based on the link below. However, you should still be able to add your 805x number to Apple 2FA security and receive the SMS OTP from Apple, but iMessage Activation would fail.

Contacting SIMBA TPG will get a reply that nothing is wrong on their end, all network is working as intended and it's Apple's issue. Contacting Apple will tell you to contact SIMBA as Apple services is working nothing is down.

In short, I do not think it's a SIMBA TPG problem, but a "numbering" problem. If Singtel, M1 or StarHub issues these 805x numbers, my guess is you should encounter this problem as well. I also guess and believe that this is uniquely a Apple issue. Putting the same number on Android, no issues with Activating "Chat Features".

This is just purely my guess and pure assumption that makes logical sense.

I understand what you meant, I may have faced the same issue when I bought a new number from Changi Mobile and it couldn't receive SMSes or calls at first. But when I tried following @frizee method, iMessage and Facetime worked. But Apple ID can't verify my number when I tried to create one.

The thing is, from what you said, seems like I am screwed since the number can't be used to link to Apple ID. Until Apple recognizes the number

Yes, SIMBA's IMDA Number allocation is unknown now since IMDA's document showing the list of numbers allocation last revision is October 2017. They have since removed the lists in the updated document. Hence I guess and believe that SIMBA numbers starting with 8761 is the "safest choice". I've also read that there are other people SIMBA numbers working well with Apple in this forums, so I guess it's a hit or miss.

I've spent many hours over this issue few months ago, contacting Apple and SIMBA, no official conclusion from both of them (except Apple claiming TPG SIMBA is not listed as their supported carrier on their site). By logical thinking, if indeed TPG SIMBA is not supported, shouldn't ALL numbers under SIMBA network (even those port in from Singtel, M1 and StarHub to TPG SIMBA) stop working as well?

So this is my only possible observation and assumption as the number of people posting this issue publicly is too small to come to a "confirmed issue".

Sadded. There goes my $10.

Now have to look at a MVNO for a cheap spare line

Reason is simple: iOS does not have any APN for SIMBA Telecom by default.
You have to activate iPhone via WiFi or cellular from Big Three THEN use SIMBA SIM. After inserting SIMBA SIM, have to put the APN.

I would say anything that's 80XX and 89XX is very problematic, not just for Apple, but many others as well. Even 81XX and late-88XX numbers may not be spared.

I would suggest u get a number that's 8868 and before, but after 8200. These numbers are old enough to be whitelisted.

I ordered a 82xx number from Starhub since it has no contract

I believe 82xx are old enough but I hope they aren't that old to be recycled? 😅

Any numbers can be old enough to be recycled.

I got a 8818 number recently from M1 and it turns out to be recycled.
I even paid a premium for it.
Kinda annoyed but oh wells.

Make sure it is log in to cellcom. When you travel . Do make note my130 is online exclusive and roaming only include for Malaysia only.

I think 805x are very new and not recycled.

Want to be safe, get 804x and above, numbers are much less likely to be recycled.
