True, but keep an open mind
Yes, but you get what you pay for

Its one of the most premium brands of studio monitors. Their cheapest model will set you back 1k for a pair
Not the most premium.

Kii Three is probably the highest end studio actives you can get now locally and there are quite a few mastering studios that use it. Price is I think around 20K per pair.

There is also PSI Audio that is one tier up from Genelec. The price is quite a bit more ex.

For some brands... u are paying a premium just for the brand name... product could be just so-so...
True, does not mean more expensive more automatically better sounding. The other components in the chain like DAC matter too. But for low end audiophile desktop I think still need to invest around 1-2K. At least you know it won't be outdated as fast as GFX.

do try headphones as a possible alternative also

personally find soundstage, imaging, etc. more distinct when using headphones

also find it easier to hear dialogue at lower volumes

Any suggestion if there's any best option that meets the following :o
- <$100
- Small profile, +- ~12cm height
- LR Stereo, acceptable bass without Sub
- 10-20W?
- mainly for casual youtube/netflix etc

Currently using Harman kardon Onyx (2*3" woofer 2*3/4" tweeters 60W)

Haha hey nice to meet u here again... I'm still using that pair of RGB gaming speakers by Lenovo that I just got that time when I last chatted with u in here... the bass on those are gd enuff for me... the only thing is the surround sound-ish effect that it produces that I dun really like... i told u abt that... i dunno if u remember...
i was the one who told you surround sound are all software enhancement one ma. all fake and degrade sound quality. You wan proper surround you can only achieve it using headphones or 5.1, 7.1 home theatre system

considered small already. cannot bend the law of physics, small driver speakers can never produce deep bass.

Ya I know u told me that... i had already gotten the speakers before we talked abt them that time. I'm not looking for speakers that produce surround sound... I only found out that they have that surround sound effect after I had gotten them.

I only require some decent amt of bass... not the heavy thumping type... I know small speakers can't achieve that anyway

if you're talking about PC config, better to get a system that comes with 2.1 or 5.1 instead of trying to mix and match existing satellite speakers cos nowhere you can buy a separate subwoofer that can plug in existing speakers for PC unless you are running an integrated/AVR amp.

If you are talking about replacing your desktop speakers with decent bass ones, you can try Edifier (heard good things about them). Price ranging from $250 to $400.

Oh I'm just looking for small 2.0 speaker set for my laptop that is portable so a separate subwoofer is out... thanks for the advice though..

Hahaha... they also come in black though..
Ya that seller.. so u got the R1280DBS for $88?

ya, $96 actually, with $12 cashback so around $85, not bad with 2 yr warranty ba. Read and gone thru some YouTube reviews, think worthwhile to sacrifice some space for the better bass as I think the difference quite significant

initially just wanted to settle for $49 pebble v3, then saw YouTube G2000 better, then saw r1280 difference impact.... lol

also saw the R1700, can get for $110+ on qoo10
