Maybe he meant the moment the $ reaches the Fastsaver account it's considered as FD placed? Doesn't sound right to me but waiting for TS to clarify.
Dear customer, we have received the initial deposit for your new CIMB account. Due to the high volume of new account applications received, we seek your understanding as more time is required to process your application. Rest assured that upon approval of your fixed deposit (FD) application, we will back-date your FD placement to the day of receipt of your full FD funds. Thank you.

The promo says 100%* cashback so not sure if it's cap at $5 cashback per transactions. I'll wait and see how much cashback I will get from my Cathay tix vouchers which is more than $5. By the way, this CC cashback is on top of the vouchers cashback. e.g the Cathay tix vouchers is 6% cashback + 100% ($5) CIMB promo.
will Watson voucher count for this?
i see it can be used in-store

I opened a FastSaver and FD account. Transferred $1000 first but no response for a week so I called CS and CS said I need to transfer the full FD amount to get the activation code after 3-5 business days. So did anyone transfer the full FD amount and got a response from them? How long did it take? Slightly worried cause I can’t see my money :(

That is indeed worrying but look at reader Shawny88 post above I didn't know CIMB can do back-dating of FD wow! First time I saw such practices from a bank for FD! CIMB is really overworked for their Dec FD promotion which so far to me is still the best. Just note I got CIMB fastsaver, starsaver,FD account for many many years so not affected by current situation you new customers face.

I personally already have Fast Saver years ago. I recommended my fam to open last month enticed by their high FD rate. She transfer in 1k end Nov. Received the same sms after weeks later. Until now the money is stuck in there. As she has their CC so have log in access, she can see her 1k in there but untouchable cos account not activated. She tried call but can't get thru to anyone. The money is stuck like that. To open FD account we need to literally open a new FD account with a set of new FD account number cos I myself have done so and place some money in my FD account. I think the cs who say that to you isn't well informed or something. I won't trust that unless it is in black and white. Btw, the 1k my fam transfer in gotten the usual bank interest. Lol. Not fd rate though.

I am in the same situation. It's about 2 weeks since I transferred 1k. Most likely by the time they response ,I will give up their FD and find somewhere else.

RHB is a good option, similar yield, everything can be done via mobile app.

Planning to go to the bank next week. If they say still need to transfer the full FD amount to activate the account, i will just do it on the spot and let them check if got receive. At least got a peace of mind where the money go…

Agree and also Dec a lot of ppl need to clear leave so use this chance to do such stuff. I use my leave to open BOC account on the spot after the experience with ICBC which take 2 weeks to and fro to get it done!

My fam went for RHB instead. Immediately open. Fuss free. Now she's only waiting to get the 1k from CIMB back. She felt so cheated. Lol. Cos she's out of town and will only be back end Jan. Considered the potential interest lost on other higher savings acc.

Actually CIMB no minimum balance so can still proceed to open for future needs. Agree the 1k being held ransom without interest. Conclusion no harm just open both CIMB and RHB

ICBC what kind of account? They do not impose fall below fee correct? If no minimum balance to maintain why close it? Later want to open account again so troublesome.
