Need to replace my lens but still retain the frame

Is it significantly cheaper to get lens made in JB/Malaysia or is it about same price locally?

Thanks in advance for advice :)

Depends. If Zeiss, Hoya, Essilor, Tokai maybe slightly lower than Singapore. If unbranded ones, definitely way cheaper than Singapore

Anyone know of an outlet that can do Zeiss individual lenses on the same day? i have mild presbyopia and currently using Shamir. I would be doing them on my Lindberg frames.

Would i be also able to get PhotoFusion within a few days as well? As i am in country only for a few days.

Doubt Zeiss can give you within 3 days as their lab is not in Singapore
Shamir used to do it in couple of hours using Spin-Coat technology, but the coating cannot last. Will usually start peeling after 6-8 months.

If you want Zeiss Quality + transition lenses & still get it within 3-4 days. Look out for shops that sell Mvision lenses (y) They are using the same machine as Zeiss (Optotech Germany) & have comparable lens design to Zeiss individual

Thanks for reply, what kind of turn around are we looking at? Any suggestions for which optometrists would be best for Zeiss Individual and photo fusion?

Please PM me your shop details, can't seem to PM

Taking recommendations for any place that is good at proper fitting/measurement of progressives for different purposes. My face is not symmetrical, PDs are diffferent for the eyes, etc.

I have worn progressives for a few years, but still have the hardest time having two specs made that suit either desk work with a large monitor (32/43" monitor about 70-100cm away) or near range sports (such as ping pong to squash distance)

@Optometrist , would also appreciate a PM or some way to get your/shop details as well.

just noticed that essilor and crizal is used interchangeably by the optical shop, are these the same? one is coating one is lens? or is it like a sub-brand?

Hey,
Acoustic line falls at about 200+. Lens probably 1.60(minimally) to 1.67. I believe you can get it for about that price after discount..

Thanks! Any place you know having discounts now? Don't really need to be acoustic line. Got mine at eyewear optics previously

Collected my progressives from a local chain. Am not a first time progressive user this is my second pair, been wearing first one around 5 years.
Experiencing unclear vision for the arms length distance of PC monitor, eyes tire easily. Manually moving the glasses away from my face slightly sharpens the PC monitor image.
Handphone distance or reading mode is slightly better not much issues.
Is this the best already for progressive technology, if so need to switch to dual pair?

Can expert shops PM me? Preferably in central Singapore.

Hi bro, from what you stated, I can safely deduce that your presbyopia is probably more than +1.75.
Once presbyopia crosses the +1.75/+2.00Ds mark, the intermediate zone for PC/desktop becomes very tiny.
Moving spectacles away from face/ pushing specs higher might give a better view of the PC, but its not a long term solution.

If your work involves alot of deskbound stuff, I'ld recommend going for office lenses for work instead.

I've PMed you a link to a 1min read to understand more.

Recent quote from JAMCO ... think they are over-priced. Varilux Comfort MAX w/CRIZAL Sapphire UV at $790/pair ...

Don't think its the shop, There a standard RRP to follow though. Price paid for branded lenses are usually high. Someone has to pay for the advertising mah🤭

hi boss, in terms of advertisements, does zeiss do more advertising than hoya? because seems that zeiss progressives are much higher than hoya. for example, zeiss progressive superb is already ~$1,500 compared to hoya mystyle v+ even though zeiss superb is only 2nd highest tier.

Zeiss hardly advertise. They place a lot of emphasis on their material quality. If a person with sensitive eye used zeiss as their 1st pair of glasses, very hard for them to switch brands (Except Tokai). Better quality lens blank = higher cost = higher RRP

E.g. grinding hoya mystyle v+ into hoya material vs zeiss material, will have difference in clarity and sharpness.
