Looking to switch to $10 100gb plan for my mum. She dont qualified for senior plan yet.

She is using Poco X3, which is the sister brand of Xiaomi.
Under her phone setting already have this VOLTE mentioned. So she can use SIMBA call without installing their app i assume? anyone can advice? TIA

It really depends.

If she's not going overseas, TPG/SIMBA VoLTE should be working (within SIMBA coverage area) as long as you can see VoLTE logo on the status bar (when WiFi is off).

If she's going overseas, for some destinations, VoLTE can work. For most others, you need SIMBA Voice app.

I have used Simba roaming in
- Perth and Western Australia, need to re-setup APN after that it worked. I guess my APN profile was outdated. The old setting was working fine in JB.
- JB, Malaysia. Many times. Works seamlessly.
- Bali,Indonesia
- Phuket Thailand
- Bangkok, Thailand

Sometimes if you are not connected, just toggle airplane mode or restart phone in worst case scenario. So far experience has been good with acceptable speed and reception. In Bangkok, sometimes can even get 5G connection. But in Western Australia, it's roaming partner Optus does not have good coverage outside of urban areas.

tpg calling app can receive/send normal voice calls from mobile and fixed line . whatsapp call can only receive from another whatsapp user.

For overseas data roaming, I understand we need to top up the balance amount with say $4 if at Malaysia to get additional 1GB data above the free overseas roam data. Charging is informed at 10Mb block

How does the 10MB block actually works?

Is it each time i connect mobile internet, one 10MB block is considered used? And so I'm left with 99 blocks of 10MB data?

Doesn't make sense as I would think data used is cummulatively added up until 1GB is used.

Hope someone here can enlighten on this.
TIA!

Should turn on Volte. I’m using the same phone as well, no need to use Simba app to call.

In kyoto now, simba works well, surfing speed ok. Lucky my mother got her senior $5 Simba also. Total 1 + 1 gb.

Volte also working, normal phone calls between us working, no charges.

No choice now, stupid qoo10 Japan data card not working well. Funny at some places qoo10 card got low reception, but when i needed transport directions information at train or bus stop not working.

Roaming data left after 1/4 day + 1 full day, mostly on Google map, email, WhatsApp, occasionally on hwz forum using opera mini

luckily got simba to save you. if your trip still long ahead and data is depleting, i would suggest you top up like $5 to your account. So if you exceed data, you can continue use. it's $4/GB.

If I have a credit card in my account... Will they charge my excess data charges from my credit card or I have to top up my account?

Cannot delay port in.
Once you receive the sim card, porting request will be submitted.

something like that. But it's more like in a block of 10mb for 4 cents., 100mb 40cents, 1GB $4.

But it's good actually, let's say you exceed data by 20mb, only 8 cents will be deducted from your wallet. Instead of $4 for 1 GB like what other operators are charging. In this way, it's fairer.

But then once we top up $4 for the additional 1GB roaming data, the $4 is charged and deducted from our balance amount, for that 1GB block, isn't it?

I think it's not good for us... If not mistaken... The top-up recharg is base on 5 10 20 30 40 50 and so on..... So you end up having weird amount that is stuck inside and cannot be refunded ...
