Chiang Mai Van Taxi Mr.Wee

He quoted me 10500 thb to go from Chiang mai to Chiang rai then end the day on Phu Chi Fa. Day 2 from Phu Chi Fa back to Chiang Mai.

Anyone know if there will be grab or drivers easily available at Phu Chi Fa who will be willing to drive 300km to Chiang Mai? If so, I can just hire a private driver for 1 day instead of having him stay over at a hotel with me, adding extra cost.

If you are seeing sun rise, you need that driver to drive you up to the dropping point as early as 4am - 4.30am, then you walk up. After that he can straight away drive you back to Chiang Mai.
I think this kind of expense cannot save one.

Another way is to land on Chiang Rai, you save the 3hr drive.

I'm also going Chiang Mai but decided not to go Chiang Rai.

Can share your itinerary? I am going for 6d5n but I am not really religious to visit temples everywhere.. Exception is Wat Rong Khun. It looks magnificent from photos

So far I have sunday for the walking street at night, ATV ride with 8 adventures on Monday, and probably 2 nights of drinking till late 2am+

Doi Inthanon looks kind of boring to me as well. But I might still go there to walk around Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail to spend some time.

Not into doing any elephant tour or cooking class also

Is it safe to take a flight that will arrive at Chiangmai around 9-10pm?
How is it finding taxi or taking grab from airport to hotel in town area?
And finding food at this hour won't be an issue, right?

Chiang Mai like any where in Thailand are safe, just don’t flash.
Airport got fixed rate taxi, don’t need to grab.
3rd question I don’t know yet.

Yes I feel Chiang Mai is safe, people are generally friendly.

Taxi from Airport to old city area i think is fixed 300 baht.

you can try grabfood if you can't find food around your hotel area.

Chiangmai airport is one of those rare airports which are very close to the city centre. Only 5km to Tae Phae Gate. Even nearer if you stay west of the city wall.
You have to see if you are staying near a nightlife area or a bazaar, otherwise you have to rely on convenience stores for food.

The exchange rate goes up and down, so when the rate is higher can change any time. Example I think last month I change at 26.60 now 25.25.
In Thailand, look for Super Rich, the rate is slightly better.

Just saw superrich has 2 kinds (orange and green), any particular one better for SGD? Ya, I forgot to check & change earlier.. now rates not too gd in SG, so thinking go over than change. But coz this time flying in to DMK airport, not sure if change there is gd or not.. if not, hv to go find super rich liao

I usually get my baht at the Golden Mile Complex. No particular logic for this, and I would still compare rates.
Thanks, next time will check there if nearby. Yest tried to change at my usual place, but he ran out of THB. Today no time go over. Think will go Bangkok then change
