When does the Burning Season Start?
There's no official date for the Burning Season in Chiang Mai to start. The dates vary from place to place. You will start feeling the heat in January, followed by increased heat and smog in February. Things start taking a toll in March when the temperature hits an all-time high, and the visibility reduces due to the smog. If you want to be safe and out of the toxic air, try not to travel to Chiang Mai in March. And if it rains, you might be in luck as farmers postpone the burning if rains hit in February, but it's rare.

When does the Burning Season in Chiang Mai End?
Like there's no official start date, there is no official end date for the burning season. The heat reduces in mid-April, just before the Thai New Year water festival. The water festival is the time when the very laid back and silent Chiang Mai turns into a celebration destination as thousands of tourists are seen throwing water balloons on the streets.

I think this article look to be correct.

only concerned with air quality. article is not useful as there were year when smog starts in jan. better monitor air quality. burn or not just for curiosity, it's not the only cause of pollution.

can share photos of chiangmai sakura?
Troublesome to share my photo, share you a link.
Share my experience there.
My driver pick us up at 7am, very cold in the morning, reach Khun Chang Khian with 14°C. Once pass Wat Phra That Doi Suthep driving toward Khun Chang Khian, will start to see a few sakura. Very curvy and narrow road, you will see a few camp sites with quite a lot of Sakura, the driver stop at few famous spots with more Sakura and lastly reach the village. The village houses are just beside many sakura tree, villagers sell local fruit example strawberry.
Doi Inthanon National Park also have sakura tree buy very scatter and few, the most is at the road side beside the villagers school. This is another day trip.

I think the main problem is very narrow yet the road is use for 2 cars in opposite direction. Some places even have sign of land slide before. So better go early, lesser cars.

can't expect to create roads to mountain as wide as u like. it might cause further land erosion. these roads are made for local not tourism

Back from Chiang Mai recently,
Weather is cool not cold can wear shorts all the way but if wanna enter temple least pants and shoes.
Shopping place can go central festive and central airport. Can skipped decathlon and outlet premium store.
I went jing ja market in the afternoon and sat night market at Wu Lai miss the Sunday one...
One minam also nice place to chill there's cafe and massage before going up to mountain...
I walk mostly around the old city from 1 end to another... Can sit at cafe relax when tired...
Am surprised cannabis was sold openly and they have cafe or shop selling legally...
May plan a yearly trip just to relax there as I felt very diff from bkk or Phuket...
Bought many snacks and nissin cup noodle pork one from Big C...

Weather is very cold if you go up to the mountains, 10 degree is the coldest in experience in Chiangmai.
Sunday night market is very similar to the Sat one, those stalls from Sat will also be in the Sun one. I went both, so walking half way of Sun one, already feel boring. Although we still find a few new stalls with stuffs worth buying.
Yes, cannabis (medical type) is officially open for public.
I also just return from Chiang Mai, this round from Thailand I brought the least foods for family and friends. Bangkok got more choice bah.

Would you, and others in this thread consider long term stay in Chiang mai? Perhaps a few months in a year.

I’m interested to stay for 1 month in Chiang Mai. After I retire then consider.
I think SG passport can stay for 30 days.
