Can I check whether someone here also encountered this issue before? I tried to open a UOB one account online since 10 Jan using SingPass. It was unsuccessful and the webpage showed that “we can’t process your request right now and we will need extra information, please give us 3-5days to get in touch with you”. After one week, no one contacted me. I tried to apply again, still same issue. I went to branch, they said someone will contact me within 5 days. No one contacted. I tried to applied 9 times so far, couldn’t get through and no one contacted me. I called hotline two weeks ago and the staff said he helped to raise a request and someone will contact me within 5 days but yet no one contacted me. Today I went to branch to ask whether my SingPass has been blocked, they replied it’s normal and can open the account for me, just no online promotion incentives. Or I called the hotline again to follow up.
I am just wondering what can be the cause for unsuccessful application. I checked my SingPass settings and everything looks ok. The history also showed UOB extracted my information each time I applied. So disappointed….

For the salary transfer using FAST method, does it need to be from Company bank account? Or, include individual bank account?
I tried to self-transfer from other bank with description "OTHR-salary". It does not count in the tracker :(.

You are not alone. I don’t think UOB want anymore business now. My wife and I applied for a joint One Account online 2 weeks ago with SingPass verifications and our application then went to a Black Hole. Today I received a letter informing us they cannot proceed and we have to go to a UOB branch to show IC and proof of residence. Why do we need to prove these again when they have obtained our information from SingPass during online application???? Why do they want people to go through the hassle of making online applications when they don’t intend to approve any applications??? We do not have any debts, we are not borrowing money but to deposit money and why is it so difficult to apply for an account?

Previously I wrote to UOB and asked whether my salary reference can be “salary” instead of “SALA” stated on their website. After more than 3 weeks, UOB sent me a standard template reply to call their customers service at… they can’t even answer a simple question????

I am looking at other banks which can provide a better customer service to put in my money.

All these 4 alphabets CODE are used by GIRO banks & the BO to code (catgeorised) the transactions. These are the stds called GIRO Purpose Codes. For example

SALA for Salary Payment
TAXS for Tax Payment
TCSC for Town Council Service charges
COLL for Payment collection (some credit card GIRO is in this code)
RDTX for Road Tax
there is a long list .....

if you have HSBC internet banking (not the mobile app), for each credit or debit line, on the right hand side, there is a down arrow to expand and show the details. The most common code you see are FAST, OTHR (for other) but for the GIRO deductions, you will be able to view the 4 alphabet CODE in capital letters.

UOB like to make people go to the branch. Probably to look busy and to sell products.

Or maybe the staff hope by being busy will have less staff retrenchment or meet kpi on number of customers served

Can't agree more. The system here is putting up a show for personal credit and KPI and customer service is the last thing on their mind.

Many thanks! this is most helpful. I don't understand why UOB cannot give me a meaningful reply but instead they bother to patiently wait for 3 weeks and send me a retarded template reply to call their customer service.

Personal view.

UOB have the worst internet banking app and processes. If not for the high interest rate from their one account. I wouldn’t be using their services.

Let me list down the frustrations I get when I open the bank account with them.

1. opened a bank account online with them last year using SingPass+myinfo. Once done, I tried to sign up for online banking, but cannot proceed because cannot receive the OTP and also the last 4 digit of the mobile number they sent the otp to us not my handphone number (SingPass+Myinfo have all the details correct cos I applied for my trust bank account successfully ard that time.)

end up I have to go to their branch and Q up for hours and manually fill up so many stupid forms just to get them to update my HP number which I don’t know how they can screw up.

2. applied for FD account and needed to wait up to 15 working days. Asked a ton of stupid questions. For DBS, it was like immediate and fast.

3. their tmrw app. I always have to kill the app and relogin a few times to get into their ibanking. Btw, I am using iPhone 13 Pro, not some crappy phone. Their information when u transfer money is also not updated until you login.

4. I always cannot understand their token usage and why it cannot be easy and straight forward like DBS.

5. I applied for their One card and it took them more than 2 weeks to approve my application. Again, I used SingPass+myinfo. FYI. I don’t have bad credit rating, I only have 2-3 cards (one dbs, one trust, one StanChart) and I never roll over my payments. Housing and car fully paid up and stable employment as well.

their digital banking is really crap like hell

I think it might be a system glitch.

recently i tried to apply for a supplementary ONE card for my parent. did everything online, submit NRIC of my parent, etc, end up the system prompt me sometrhing like cannot be processed, pls go down to branch with my parent to verify duno what etc...

frustrated, i spoke to the CSO over chat and requested them to cancel the application since it was too much of a hassle to arrange to go dwn with parent. CSO said ok, no more action on my part, the application will auto cancel after X number of days..

then just yesterday i saw a new supplementary card in my internet banking... i think i should be receiving the physical card very soon...

lol.. oh well....

the experience was different for me - but, i already had an UOB ONE account for some time now.

i applied for the ONE credit card, and subsequently a FD account online via singpass - was a breeze.

1 of the RMs i reached out to (was asking her about upgrade to privilege banking status & FDs) eventually ghosted me oh well!

but anyway the ONE account/card interest rate is fantastic - salary credit & $500 credit card spend for effectively 5%~ interest on 100k deposit. no need to buy rubbish financial products, as with the case for OCBC & DBS.

I find the UOB TMRW app to be fantastic. It’s the only banking app that shows you whether your current spending etc. is on track to meet the requirements to gain that juicy 5% interest. Hands down the best bank overall to go for currently.

in contrast, my experience with other banks like SCB has been horrendous (both digital banking and customer service)

Anyone has received notification or fund being earmarked successfully for last promo?
Regarding the Lunar New Year Savings Promotion, can I check if fund under embarked continue to earn interest in the eligible account ?e.g. UOB One Account bonus interest.
