think u dont know how to set haha..

u know there is windows HDR setting in your OS. even if u set brightness 100 on your OSD, the windows HDR bar still can adjust

just go to windows bottom right search bar, type HDR

a pop up appear. u can see that bar. go adjust lower HDR even if u on HDR1000
I’m using windows 10 btw, not 11. Yes I saw the settings you mentioned and set hdr on, and I saw the scroll bar to adjust brightness even further.

I assume hdr = hdr 400 right? I’m using 400, later try 1000. 1000 seems very bright, my brightness setting is 100% now

the HDR 400 means you are using the monitor at 400 nits brighness, however the contents you see in windows 10 still technically SDR contents.

if you watch youtube those video with "HD" or "4k" it is SDR content video with 8bit color depth, only those video with 'HDR" are considered as HDR using the HDR contrast and 10bit color depth.

try the following if you can see "HDR" in the setting otherwise you might need to download HDR codec from the Microsoft Store: HEVC Video Extensions, VP9 Video Extensions, AV1 Video Extension & enabled your browser with hardware acceleration:

Am so tempted to get the LG oled but read there isn’t any
sossss anyone got use acer monitor??? thinking of buying https://shopee.sg/acer-gaming-monitor cos price ok but i not very familiar with acer.....
i am using the 240hz version of this, personally it’s good enough for fps gaming which is my main purpose. Not too fussy about colors and such

however the latest oled 240hz lg is so tempting.. not sure if my 3070 can drive it well since it’s 1440p and also I am leaning towards something with usbc since I have to connect my work laptop often nowadays.

hope a usb c version oled 240hz 1440p will be out soon

The HDR clips on that YT channel are very likely to be bogus.

HDR Playback (left), SDR playback (right).

The deeper blacks are from OLED technology (left) vs IPS (right), and the left side is sharper due to a higher PPI (See the font). While the color balance is slightly different, that is normal due to using different screens and different video timing.

Firstly, the HDR playback didn't have natural HDR-like lighting, and the luminance values peaked about the same. In such a scene, it definitely will not be the same. Both of these factors are dead giveaways. On OLED, it is very easy to tell apart these 'HDR' content.

Many channels simply inject HDR metadata and change bit depth, color space, and max luminance level on SDR clips to register as HDR clips. This will not change the actual dynamic range of the content, leading to an inaccurate representation of HDR.

many thanks for sharing and this topic of HDR bogus video is an interesting discussion which I think we can continue on my other HDR thread :)

My main point for the windows OS slider in HDR setting was that if we are in HDR mode as following screeshot on my monitor with side by side comparison of HDR (LEFT) & SDR (RIGHT) video in 2 chorme browser (in one monitor not two different monitor)

I can noticed better contrast on the HDR left compare to SDR right by looking at the cloud surrounding the character with more vibrant color as well as the skin tone of the character plus the sun flare is more contained compare to the right.

Changing the slider (red circle) below will not changed the brightness in the left HDR video, but it will change the brightness on the right SDR video this is because some are confused and assume when the monitor was in HDR mode all content display are perceived as HDR color space.

If compared with mini led monitor with 1000+ dimming zones now, oled is cheaper liao.
Yeah actually I love the picture quality of the AW3423dwf, super good lol. Hope the future oleds will be even better in terms of picture quality, refresh rate and of course pricing.

For those who use the alienware monitor, do u do a pixel refresh every 4 hours?

Is it a must to do so? I use pc for long periods of time including wfh and quite troublesome to do so if always must refresh after every 4 hours

No need just select the never show again option. Dell covers burn in too. Think pixel refresh will kick it when your display is in standby mode
