Many roadside hawker have qr code. Just that our sg app can use or not I don't know.not sure, i do see some people scan their mobile on payment but like quite rare.
and depends on where you eat/shop also. if u eat roadship, confirm no have ma.
if u atas, maybe will have.
anyway, why bother man? is it better? cheaper? carry less cash?
SG version will not work there. I have been in Thailand for quite some time and they are already ahead of SG when it comes to QR payment.will be interesting to know if the sg version will work in thailand! Anyone try and know and let us know too!

seems to have been available since Aug last year. haven't tried it though
Good to know that they accept Promptpay. Although sometimes their promptpay may not be registered when I send it from DBS to their promptpay number. Encountered quite a few times with my Thai friends when I want to change SGD to THB to my Thai bankWorks fine for me for scanning of their PromptPay QR, scanned it using DBS Bank App.
When it did not work, asked for their contact number and transfer over to them since using DBS SG - THAI paynow-promptpay is free.
Rate was good back end of last year when I went over. Convenient!
epayment not exactly an issue, its the compatibility and ease of usage that is the problem.Good to know that they accept Promptpay. i opened the bank account roughly about 6 to 7 years ago as i bought a house there.epayment not exactly an issue, its the compatibility and ease of usage that is the problem.
I believe probably their details are updated but QR still using old ones.
When I transferred to my Thai friends through phone numbers, never met any issues yet.
On a side, you opened bank account as a tourist in Thailand? May I know how was the process?
What to look out for etc.
Right... seems to be the same w anywhere else where either working/studying at the country to be able to open a bank account.i opened the bank account roughly about 6 to 7 years ago as i bought a house there.
For tourists, its a little bit harder as most of the banks require a work permit (and in some banks, they do not require work permit, but a proof of residence from the SG embassy). Ultimately, it all depends on the bank's approval process, so you got to try your luck.
Also another way to get a bank account is to purchase an insurance policy (upwards of 5,000 baht) so they will open an account for you.
You can try Pattaya, seems like some tourists got success rate with different banks. you can try googling for the info.Right... seems to be the same w anywhere else where either working/studying at the country to be able to open a bank account.
Unless money is spent for properties or financial instruments. From your experience, is there any area with better chances/english speaking staff to assist with for higher account creation success rate?
Insurance policy from the bank?
Sorry but any chance that Bangkok have it instead? You can try Pattaya, seems like some tourists got success rate with different banks. you can try googling for the info.
Yes buy an insurance policy from the bank and they will allow you to open a bank account. that's one of the ways to get it. you can try asking them about it. Easier to do things in Thailand if u have 1. convenient also. i only carry 200thb cash with me. everything through scan pay
Got to try though, cuz every branch is different. Maybe just try your luck at different branches.Sorry but any chance that Bangkok have it instead?
Right, insurance plans like once off or recurring though. Insurance might work with travels there having peace of mind.
Definitely agree and prefer to go cashless.
