Just buy a trio of ax55 and use as ap with wired backhaul.

With port conversion for all rooms, add another $200

Total ard 600.

Not gonna recommend my current first brand of choice lol

You can ignore the note for your use case.

In the above picture, the modem is basically an ONR or ONT plus router in the context of Singapore ISPs. Then the note does not apply for Singapore ISPs. In your case, you can think that the modem in the picture equals to Singtel ONT + Singtel Mesh Router.

Hello Xiaofan/all

My contractor have done data point in my bedroom1 (D2) , bedroom2 (D3) and master bedroom(D4).

Below is my layout .

1. ONT connect to WAN Port of SingTel Mesh Router
2. Connect 3 LAN port in SingTel Mesh Router to new Data point D1 , D2 and D3
3. Connect Existing Data Point D1(Living Room) to Switch for SingTel TV, Playstation or StarHub TV.
4. Connect ASUS RT-AX55 , set as Access Point in Bedroom 2.
5. In future , we need new ASUS RT-AX55 in master bedroom.

Please confirm my final topology is correct . I think should be correct , however any expert advise.
Thank you

Your description seems to be correct but your diagram got one mistake.

D1 in DB box can not be connected to Singtel ONT, rather it should be conected to Singtel Mesh Router LAN port (same as D2/D3/D4).

Yes, this should work.

The switch in the living room should support IGMP-snooping. The cheap TL-SG105 should work.

But this living room switch can also be another Singtel Mesh Router (S$10 from Carousell) if you need better Wifi in the living room. It should work as well.

If I add another Singtel Mesh Router in Living Room , I will have 2 SSID , am I correct ?

DO NOT subscribe to Singtel 2Gbps plan, it is the worst ISP plans in Singapore.
Please read the first post here and decide by yourself.

The Singtel Wifi 6 mesh extenders (both the Askey brand AP5690W or the Arcdyan brand WE620242-ST) are lousy mesh solution and you can also see that from the Carousell selling price. People are trying to sell the dual pack at around S$180 but I expect it to drop below S$120 soon.

You can always try to see if your Wifi coverage is good enough or not with the single Asus RT-AX55 (which is a low end Wifi 6 router from Asus offerings). Then from there you can decide to get another RT-AX55 or not.

I mention Singtel router for two reasons.
1) It is cheaper than a new switch (S$10 from Carousell)
2) It is more compatible with your Singtel TV box in the setup. But it might have issues with Starhub TV+ Box (not sure).

Singtel ONT + Singtel Mesh Router ---- Singtel Mesh router -- Singtel TV Box (always working)
Singtel ONT + Singtel Mesh Router ---- Unmanaged Switch with IGMP Snooping function -- Singtel TV Box (usually working but some switches may have issues). I believe TP-Link TL-SG105 will work.
Singtel ONT + Singtel Mesh Router ---- RT-AX55 in AP mode -- Singtel TV Box (I expect it to work but not 100% sure and need confirmation from others).

3) Yes it is better to use two SSIDs if you add a Singtel Mesh Router in the living room and enable its wireless. You can also use the Singtel Mesh router just as a switch by disabling the Wireless function.

Why do you have both Singtel TV Box and Stathub TV+ Box? Or you will only have one in the end?

Hi Xiaofan
Thank you for your patience.

A. I have SingTel TV box and Stahub TV+ ( small white box for EPL).

B.
In point 4 below, do I connect WAN port of ASUS RT-AX55 to my Bedroom 2 port ? Or LAN port of ASUS AR-AX55
Please correct me if I am wrong.

1. ONT connect to WAN Port of SingTel Mesh Router
2. Connect 4 LAN port in SingTel Mesh Router to new Data point D1 , D2 ,D3 and D4
3. Connect Existing Data Point D1(Living Room) to Switch for SingTel TV and StarHub TV.

C. I have ordered ASUS RT-AX58U Wifi6 Router as its specs are mush better than RT-AX55.
D. Will add another ASUS router if wifi coverage still not improving.
Please see my updated diagram:

You connect the WAN port of RT-AX55 (or RT-AX58U as shown in the picture) to the Bedroom 2 LAN port.

Same for the living room RT-AX58U, you connect its WAN port to the Switch LAN port.

Same same for the main node.
For the mesh node, it depends on whether you connect using Ethernet backhaul (then it should be the same speed) or wirless backhaul (then the speed will drop significantly).

A few possible configurations.
1) Ethernet backhaul
Nokia ONR -- Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Extender (Arcydyan WE620242-ST) main node
Nokia ONR -- Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Extender (Arcydyan WE620242-ST) mesh node

2) Ethernet backhaul
Nokia ONR -- Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Extender (Arcydyan WE620242-ST) main node -- Ethernet cable -- Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Extender (Arcydyan WE620242-ST) mesh node

3) Wireless backhaul
Nokia ONR -- Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Extender (Arcydyan WE620242-ST) main node -- wireless -- Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Extender (Arcydyan WE620242-ST) mesh node

I recontracted with singtel and collected the Singtel Mesh router. Is it better than my old Asus Rt ac86U?
