more than enough for even a 4090 system. i would also have suggested buying the psu and ssd locally for the long term warranty support: psu rma will be a pita if need to ship overseas (which is likely if u bought from amazon) and local nvme pricing is pretty good these days.

if ur using the adobe suite like after effects and premiere pro, u would be better off going intel (with igpu) + nvidia, which would also alleviate ur concerns about ram compatibility (ie xmp on am5). u did mention that the kit is on the mobo qvl though, so i dont think there would be anything to worry about. for stable diffusion it is also better to go with nvidia for cuda support (compared to significantly reduced performance of radeon cards for ai workloads), though their limited vram buffers might be an issue. the 7900xt is also really poor value locally anyway.

for the parts to get, these are what i would suggest:
core i7-13700 non f + gigabyte b760m aorus elite ax d5831fuwell
arctic liquid freezer ii 360157tradepac
zotac rtx 4070 twin edge863tradepac
corsair 5000d airflow184tradepac
total: $2035
Thanks for your detailed reply. I made a typo earlier, planning to purchase RAM, SSD and GPU from Amazon.

The AMD 7900XT is going from around US$790 (roughly S$1,150 after including shipping and GST). RAM is really much cheaper on Amazon so that makes the most sense. Will be buying the PSU locally in SG.

For the CPU, I'm tossing between Intel (i9-13900K) and AMD (Ryzen 9 7900X). Going the Intel way will save a lot of hassle in terms of software support and RAM compatibility. If I was to go with Intel, any Z790 motherboards to recommend (looking for something with SPFDIF output).

Low VRAM on 4070 is a worry....Nvidia has really made their 4000 series offering quite unattractive (price and specifications wise)

oh if its around the 4070ti pricing locally then its not a bad deal, though still not great.

the msi mpg a750gf or asus rog strix 750w (basically a rebranded seasonic focus) from dynacore will do nicely under $150, much cheaper than the focus.

i personally would not go for the 13900k given the jump in price and sg weather, maybe something like the 13700k would be more reasonable. if ur not going to do any cpu overclocking, then id recommend dropping the k and going for the combo i suggested in my original reply from fuwell. otherwise, just get the cheapest z790 board with ddr5, spdif out and fits ur preferences (in terms of aesthetics and/or features).

their high end models like hydro g pro series are pretty good. cant really expect 1000w models to be below $200 when 850w models are already breaching that price point. some alternatives u can get around the 200-300 range are the corsair rm1000x and nzxt c1200.

customary once-every-seven-years post! am in the middle of building a rig and may be replicating/adapting for a friend. felt like i got good value, but am soliciting suggestions and comments so i can make changes and also improve for the next time round :D (technically some parts can return still la but a bit not nice to do so)

purpose: shiok gaming experience at 1080p/1440p. typically play e-sports titles but looking for flexibility to play RPG/AAA as and when. otherwise, double up for movies in a bedroom and normal office work. no need for video/graphics editing professional use.

budget: not strict, but with a focus on getting price/performance around the "1.5k value build"-"2k mid-range" mark, and with the thought process that i can upgrade some parts in a couple of years. i look at the completed list i feel like it is quite important to stick to budget since I derailed from value to aesthetics along the way...

build:

ryzen 5 5600 +
asrock b550 phantom gaming 4/ac +
sapphire nitro + 6750xt
~875taobao
thermalright peerless assassin 120 se RGB white65tradepac

seasonic focus gx white 750w179carousell new
nzxt H7 flow white183tradepac

LG 27GR95QE 27inch OLED

am a working personnel, the days of sourcing the lowest parts at every shop and self building are way past me. rather pay someone a small fee to help assemble.

can i check any recommended rig builders people here recommened?

Just go to Invader or Aftershock site.

They are decent enough and good value for money.

I had a similar question. I'm buying parts from amazon and some parts locally. Wonder if there are shops/people who will help assemble it together. I remember there were some shops in Sim Lim that provided such services?

Where are you getting the AMD 7900XT at this price?

I search Amazon and the price will be USD$930 after Shipping and GST.

Got link?

ryzen 5 5600 +
asrock b550 phantom gaming 4/ac +
sapphire nitro + 6750xt

the phantom gaming model is very barebones, and will likely hamper ur upgrade path. id get something like the asrock b550m/ac, which u can get locally with warranty for 316 with the 5600 from tradepac. theres also a deal on amazon for an xfx 6750xt at 615 before 7% discount (575 after), which imo is a classier looking card with comparable performance to the nitro+. u get these separately, at most only $20 more but u get good quality parts with warranty and doa protection, instead of taobao with no safety net.
thermalright peerless assassin 120 se RGB white65tradepac
u can get this from taobao for less than 2/3 the price, though u have to ship it thru their free shipping programme with 299rmb spent on eligible items. there are some good matx cases that u can pair with it that can easily satisfy that though, like the sama quzao (oem tecware fusion).
corsair vengeance RGB pro SL 3600 C18 (white) 2x 16GB~119amazon US
i would avoid corsair vengeance ram in general, unless u are absolutely sure of what ur getting. a better alternative would be the kingston fury beast black 3600c17 kit from dynacore for the same price but with local lifetime warranty, or the rgb version for $15 more.
seasonic focus gx white 750w179carousell new
u dont need this much power for a 6750 xt, imo 650w is enough right now and for a good upgrade path. youd also be spending a premium on a white psu, which would be wasted as it would likely be hidden under a shroud. id recommend something like the nzxt c650 for 130 from tradepac.
nzxt H7 flow white183tradepac
seems fairly overpriced, u can get a better looking and performing case for less (see bottom of first post). i would personally stay away from nzxt cases too. or as mentioned previously, u can opt for some taobao case that can allow for free shipping with the cooler.

id say either dreamcore or invaderpc, good prices with not much horror stories.

most sls shops should have pc building services, though since u are using parts not bought from the store they will likely charge a build fee.

Thanks, misread the shipping.

Anyway it seems like prices are dropping on parts but Invader has not yet dropped the pricing on their prebuilts, making self building more attractive again.

Hi guys, decided to up abit of my budget and I have come out with the following after adjusting from the recommended build. I'm leaning more towards intel build for an extra $100 but still cant decide, mainly for some light gaming D4, photo editing and andriod emulator. I also realize some gpu using 12vhpwr connector, would it be of any issue if using it on the non ATX3.0 psu. Thank you.

before they introduced the flow series, their cases generally had poor airflow making parts harder to cool (ie form over function). theyre also on the pricey side.
Ah I see. I was considering Phanteks G500A then changed my mind to H9 Flow as the front is also TG allowing for a full fish tank aesthetic. Price wise H9 is actually cheaper. Airflow in general seems good based on reviews.

I’d like to support Phanteks as they seem to listen to user feedback and keep improving the functionality of their cases with each gen but haven’t found a case from them that fully fits what I’m looking for. NV7 too big, upcoming NV5 the shift of the PSU location is a eyesore to me :/

Hello, can I get some advice for a new build below 2k?
For gaming use on D4 and Valorant.
Not sure if I should go for AM4 or AM5 socket.

Will source for parts on taobao and amazon.

Appreciate the advice!!

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X
MOBO: MSI MAG B550M Mortar
Cooler: Thermalright Frozen Notte 360 White ARGB
RAM: Probably 16GB with RGB
Storage: WD SN770 2TB
GPU: Thinking on RTX 4060 or 4060ti
PSU: Probably 650w
Case: AIYOUNGO M-ATX from Taobao
