Who regret doing tonsillectomy?

Keep kena tonsillitis . I kena 4x in one month. Keep Eat antibiotics but my tonsils still remain swollen and inflamed. Suspect is my auto immune attacking my tonsils now

4 times in a month is reason enough to do so. But your tonsils protect your respiratory track from infection. You'll have more of that if u remove it. Then again that's what they said and I experienced none of it.

wah u kena 4x in 1 mth? power. mine is every month 1 time.. jiak finish the augmentin 625mg.. also cannot recover.. need additional 3-4 days of self healing in order to heal properly. end up doctor suggest go tonsilectomy.. as the antibiotics no longer works.

to be honest, i never regret doing that, infact i was asking myself, why didn't i do it earlier? reason being:

1) no more tonsil stones..these are ******* smelly.
2) no more smelly breath in morning..
3) doesn't really snore every night..
4) fresher breath (my wife mentioned it)

your concerns are probably myth..

coz my voice still sounds the same.. just that when swallowing saliva during the 1mth feels funny.. throat dry and pain is also not true.

post op ah? really depends on your ENT eh kan or not. mine was very bad, he bruises my tongue and my whole entire tongue end up ulcers. by right it shouldn't la.

so the pain can tackle using paracetamol.. hot and solids foods are out for 2-3 weeks.. don't take deep fried food.. unless u love swallowing blood and bruising your throat even further. soft food (porridge, mee sua, kway tiao soup are your best friend) and ice cream (lots of it to reduce the pain)

for throat become dry.. i think quite subjective, i always drink water every 30m-1hr.. so i don't feel it. (if ur system breath through nose and not mouth.. i don't think that should be an issue)

ever since i did the surgery (3/4yrs back), i didn't fall sick so often. i think only once covid hit me quite badly.. and one sore throat incident.. that's about it..

I personally don't see it as a good option. You are not tackling the root problem. Inflammation can go other places after you remove tonsils. Calm your immune system is the correct way.

Next time inflammation happens to your stomach, you gonna remove stomach too? Until you remove all organs, inflammation won't stop.

i done it during NS time , 14 days MC.
during the recovery period its extremely painful 10/10
swallow painful
during those weeks i ate porridge and also painful

ask me if i wanna go through that again? i tell you NO

Keep eating antibiotics is not good for body, cos the bacteria will gain resistance. Your body next time have to use stronger antibiotics for other medical reasons to cope and that comes with much more side effects.

Every surgery is a gamble tbh. No matter how small or big the op is. Hope your surgery goes through smoothly.

Omg. You did at which hospital? I seeing subsidised I scared kena one cui doctor . U got kena any complications like excessive bleeding or clots post op?

i also take sips of water throughout the day but night time I sleep I get alot of dry mouth and throat due to auto immune condition so worry the op will make it worse

Thanks for sharing. Ya that’s my fear. But I have very bad inflammation in my stomach , joints, muscles and bones Liao that’s why my tonsils now kena.

no way to calm the inflammation due to auto immune. Now doing IVIG mthly is to balance out

Sorry, can't help further as western medicine is not my focus, I more on chinese medicine. We don't have a term for immune system in tcm, so I can't diagnose your issue.

Based on my understanding of your condition, I see you are 先天不足、后天虚弱体质, so other ppl take operation no problem, but you may have implication, you need to think twice.
