Hi Senpais,
Building a new PC myself (specs below) and I'm having some issues and few days of Google searching didn't help. Will greatly appreciate any insight/advice!
1) On first boot up into bios, I am able to detect my new SATA SSD and NVMe M.2 SSD in bios but upon reboot to install windows through flash drive, the installer is unable to find any drive to install on.
2) When I then reboot into bios again, I am now unable to find both drives in bios as well. Tried rebooting few more times, updated MOBO bios, ensuring cable connectivity, different SATA ports all didn't work
3) so...I tried installing the NVMe SSD on an old system. And somehow, the same issue arose. On 1st boot, I am able to find the disk in bios but not in windows. And on 2nd boot, it is not detected in bios anymore too. (Have not tried the SATA SSD on old system yet, holding out in case something needs to be done on very first boot..)
4) I then try an old SSD (with windows installed on it alr) on the new system, and got into the same issues again. First seen in bios, but cannot detect in windows (when boot from flash drive to install windows again) then subsequently disappear from bios too.
I initially thought it might be the new Mobo issue..but replicated on old system means the drives are more likely faulty? Or so suay both m.2 slots got issue? I'm quite sure I've mounted them correctly and the m.2 drive is sitting nicely in the slot. Or is the new Mobo locking the SSDs somehow?
Things I've tried:
- "Crucial Storage Executive" does not detect the new NVMe SSD
- HWInfo also does not detect it
- Does not appear in device manager or disk management
- device manager > storage controllers only has "Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller" and no AMD RAID stuff that was found to be problematic in other forums
New system:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7600X
MOBO: MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI
SATA SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB
NVMe SSD: Crucial P3 Plus 1TB
Old system:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 1700
MOBO: ASRock AB350 Pro4
Old SATA SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 250GB
