Doi Inthanon main road not that steep, view point trail could be. I didn't went there. I went to Khun Chang Khian for sakura viewing, very very steep and narrow. Need to move out very early, if not the traffic condition will be worst. Single road up and down, very dangerous. Worst for bike.

Songthaew don't go that area.
I book driver to Khun Chang Kian, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and Mae kampong.
Another day to Doi Inthanon National Park and 3 waterfalls

Mae kampong is out of the way, also no transport to that area. Afraid that can't get a grab back, so insert into the Khun Chang Kian trip.

i rented a car for my recent trip to chiangrai and chiangmai so not much of a transport issue, problem is finding carpark especially in chiangmai. cancelled my mae kampong trip as my family was tired and i was too lazy to drive there. now is thinking of planning another trip up there again next year december to explore those areas we missed out.

Nice, too many places to explore.
Khun Chang Kian toward mountain top where the villagers stay and sell local fruits, the road is too narrow to drive. Only local drive there often know where to turn and give way when another car is coming. Camping area already very beautiful.

klook has return transfer to mae kampong but i think self drive is better as there is a strawberry farm nearby and might be worth a visit if it is the strawberry season plus the doi saket hotspring.

Managed to bike to Chiangrai and doi sutrep…and yes, the view point is single road and even bike can be a bit dangerous so have to ride with care.
Too bad this trip cannot make it to doi itanon as my friend has a fall and twisted her ankle. Spent almost half a day settling her to hospital etc. :(

it's not available on klook now, maybe seasonal. of coz if u wish to visit strawberry farms & hot springs along the way, self drive will be more convenient

Cafe and restaurants yes, I go more toward local, so price still low.

of coz u can but if just go mae kampong prefer van or public transport, only 1++ hr journey & cheaper
All the way there only 1 location, cheap also not worth the time. I prefer add few attractions together, more worth it.

Anyone try to ride bike up? How long is the journey from Chiang Mai city to the view point? I am planning to either see sun rise or sun set.
Good experience to rent a bike and ride in chiangmai. i feel that the drivers & traffic there are much more forgiving as compared to SG. That said, you still have to do your own part to be safe on the road.

Suggest that you plan your journey within the day. i would highly avoid riding after nightfall. the outskirt of the city / towns usually do not have street lamps. and it can be really dark even for experienced driver/riders.
