My sanyo system of 13 years have finally called it a day last year 2023 after I have diligently diy maintained it through the years.
Went in search for another brand new system and like many of you, I had the mindset to go for those more popular brands; mit, daikin etc.
After almost a month of reading online articles, reviews and comparisons, I decided to take the leap of faith. Decided on Midea based on conditions of being on a tight budget (i am a senior with limited disposable income especially so with raising costs of living) and lastly, I like to do my own maintenance on all things at home.
Purchased the Midea All Easy Pro model system 3 at $2330 and after offsetting the platform discount vouchers of $240, eventually paid $2,090. Used the savings from the discount vouchers and opted to change to a brand new ac bracket($150) and upgrade materials ($200).
It's been 2 months now since all systems are up and running.
Surprised at how quiet the Midea outdoor unit is compared to my old sanyo compressor.
The indoor fan speed is set at 80% (settings @ Auto, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%) is relatively quiet so much so that you don't even know it's in operation (have not measured the actual decibels) which is on par with my brother's mit starmex and sister's daikin system. Measured it took 12 mins to cool down the room from 29deg to 25 deg which is not bad.
The only downside so far is the timer setting. This Midea remote does not offer the standard settings found on other brand's remote where you just need to set the on/off timer and the system will automatically run on the specified day/timing(like my old sanyo).
Over here the user will either have to press on or off the ac manually when need to use the ac. Alternatively preset the number hours (instead of timing setting) of intended usage for the day and have to repeat this step every day. This step will be for users who only want to run the ac for a few hours and set it to turn off after falling asleep.
As for technical support, having read some reviews of the bad technical support from Midea, this was an area of concern for me initially. After 2 months of daily usage, I had wanted to do some light cleaning on the indoor unit and encountered difficulty opening the front panel on one of the indoor units. I didn't want to risk damaging the unit so I submitted a service request on their official website and after submitting all relevant documents; proof of purchase, installation service form with all the serial numbers. The next day I received a call from their customer service to confirm on the problem and an appointment was arranged within a week for the technician to come. Technicians called 30 minutes prior and arrived on time. The tech initially found it hard to open the panel and carefully managed to open the panel and the problem was due to some excess plastic burrs material on one of the locking latches. He scraped off the excess and the panel was able to open freely. After experiencing first hand the relatively responsive and fast service support kind of eases my worries.
