Remember the question about where the loyalties lie if war with Bolehland.

Very valid question for our founding father.

Don't really agree with your 2nd definition of 华人. In Singapore, we define 华人as the Chinese people regardless of nationality or what the prc would define themselves as 汉人/han ethnicity. So in sg, 华人=汉人。

The definition of 华人 may differ from mine. Singaporean Chinese, as you know, incorporates elements from various dialects. Therefore, I'm currently focusing on learning Mandarin by China's standards.

Nowadays, information on the Internet is developed. When analyzing this information, how should Chinese people identify information that will affect the cohesion of Chinese people? Shen Ying, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of National Development and Foreign Affairs, pointed out that Chinese people must always remember that national identity and cultural identity are two different things.

Shen Ying, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of National Development and Foreign Affairs, mentioned in an interview with "Budget Point" that Chinese people get a lot of information from mobile phones or the Internet every day, but Chinese people always remember that national identity and cultural identity are two different things. .

She explained using the example of Chinese people in our country: "We are both Singapore citizens and Singaporean Chinese, but we are not overseas Chinese."

Shen Ying hopes that the Chinese people will think about whether this information is based on cultural identity or other identities. She hopes to win over readers to support a certain position. Shen Ying also needs to think deeply about whether this position is consistent with our country as a diverse country. fundamental interests of the racial state.

In addition, for information that uses more sensational or more critical words to attract attention, Shen Ying calls on Chinese people to think deeply about whether the author wants to arouse stronger emotions in readers, and whether there are other intentions behind it.

"Above all, consider whether this information is in the interest of our country as a multiracial society."
She is correct, we are Sgporean Chinese. Hua qiao is a very old term associated with newly arrivals (sinkeh), like those Ah tiongs who just got PR. Hua qiao literally translates to "Chinese immigrant", not overseas Chinese. Maybe Msian Chinese might see themselves as "Chinese immigrants" due to the lack of Bumi status. CCP would love to call all Chinese outside of China as Hua qiao to gain legitamacy, just like how Sun Yat Sen gained monetary support from Hua qiao for his political campaigns.

That is a dangerous assumption you are making here. Chinese Is a race/ethnicity, not to be confused with nationality.

I think pap is

1. just trying to put the majority of the Singaporean population on the defensive to support their political agenda especially on their unfettered immigration policies.

2. Counter China propaganda on Singaporean new citizens due to their unfettered immigration policy. They could be feeling the heat now as there is a sizeable number of new citizens here who could be influenced by the Chinese propaganda.

All this shows the double edged sword of pap unfettered immigration policy.
