Happened to me before when the bloody cyclist appeared suddenly in front of me. The thing is, I actually turned my head when approaching the zebra crossing and don't see the cyclist at all. From what I recall, it's most likely that cyclist sped past the road because the green man was blinking and thus appearing suddenly in front of me. At that speed, the before and after position of the cyclist can be very far apart if you get what I mean.

The worst situation would be at night, some of them have no lights at all.
(a small handful on their mobile phones even)
They think same as pedestrians, no need lights, then cycle at speed. Other cyclists also cannot see them esp if they are of dark complexion, streetlights / tree canopies do not help.

Really crazy world.

Bloody cyclists. Zebra crossing also should slow down or stop to check if vehicles are stopping for them what. You don't just cycle at high speed thinking that drivers can see you when you are way outside their viewing angle then out of sudden appear in front of the vehicle.
when u turn left, u need to check for oncoming traffic on ur left, tio boh.? so u already saw a bicycle coming...and u will need to anticipate that he will be crossing the zebra, but from the video, looks like he wan to gamble who will reach the crossing first.. yes, the cyclist is at fault as well.. but driver is no saint to be honest.. and how come no sound.. i think driver may have horned to display road dominance..

When these spandex fags reached traffic light n zebra crossings, they expect to be treated like normal pedestrian but when on the road, they don't respect the law, chiong red light, stop line no stop...small road dash out to main without seeing got car or not....most jialat is they think they are entitled to whole lane n hog....hey tour de sg spandex, want to ride then ride with dignity...not expect dual standards of treatment when u r on the road..

Not sure if there are rule/law on how fast a cyclist should ride at such crossing… 10km/h? or 15 km/h? or 30 km/h?…… It is a road bike(his average riding speed could be 40km/h) , this cyclist could argue he is not riding very fast at that crossing also… :ROFLMAO:

Yep....technically walking pace (not even jogging pace), so basically same speed as other road users on the path.
This is also the reason why there is no need to dismount. It makes sense. Quite often you see people saying need to dismount, nope they do not have to, but gotta keep to walking pace.

It’s not mandatory
Conduct at and when approaching crossings
14.—(1) Every cyclist, mobility vehicle user and PMD rider —
(a)when approaching a pedestrian crossing or zebra crossing, must proceed at such speed as will enable him to stop his bicycle, three‑wheeled pedal cycle, recumbent device, power-assisted bicycle, mobility vehicle or PMD (as the case may be) before reaching the crossing; and
[S 168/2024 wef 01/03/2024]
(b)when at the pedestrian crossing or zebra crossing, must stop and look for on-coming traffic before using that crossing.

I cycle a few times a week and I always always always slow down at zebra crossing and look around for vehicles.

Why risk your whole life just to save a few seconds?

as a driver, when approaching zebra crossings, I always slow down and look out for speeding cyclists.

Think its individual attitude problem. Alot when cycle through junction with connecting zebra crossing tend neglect to stop and look out for traffic one. They tend expect the zebra crossing also stop for them like the main traffic. This kind attitude usually got problem. Can be easily triggered if vehicle fail to look out for them.

It's stupid or naive to assume the driver will even stop .

Some drivers will just bash through assuming pretend to wave sorry when you stare at him .
They like to play chicken one and knowing they got the advantage.

The only way to stop this is to install cameras assuming LTA even got the budget.

Definition of Walking pace - can be grey…..He walks fast, i walks slow… Sometimes i walk fast and sometimes i walk very slow..or very fast….

If there is no other road users beside, only me crossing… then how? Where is the yardstick? :ROFLMAO:
