Simba has $20 broadband service. Wondering to switch over or not. Now I'm with $30 M1 500 Mbps.

for broadband actually m1 is one of the best.. wouldn’t recommend switching to simba broadband as their fb page is full of complaints about outages. plus m1 if there’s any issues can just call them, simba only can email. also, if you switch, still need pay $56 nlt connection fee + $50 delivery fee

my wife oppo phone with simba plan does not have such problem.

Has it got to do with the LTE bands support of the Xiaomi phone ?

True. For fibre M1 still the best value for money, stable and fast. I'm still thinking whether to switch to Simba fibre. My contract ending soon

isn't it a hassle to carry 2 phones?

I have 2 phones too,
but 1 is mostly at home, bring out only on weekends and use for online/offline shopping

Yes it can be a hassle but you can also use 2 sim to 1 phone

For me, I would watch show on my sub phone while shopping on my main phone

I started using 2 phones last time when I was playing online mobile games with my friend.
I would chat on my sub phone while playing on my main phone because bringing up the chatbox in the game would block the entire screen so I got another phone just for group chat. The hassle became a norm for me due to necessity and I got used to it.

Previously I've a redmi note 8 pro. No problem with Simba data roaming in China. However I've to key in a special code to disable carrier check whenever I return to sg from overseas or else I can't make or receive call. Not sure why there is this bug. Maybe it's a Xiaomi thing.

If yours is the old $30 M1 plan then maybe still worth it to stay with M1 after your contract expired. If yours is the expensive M1 plan then maybe worth it to switch over to $20 Simba broadband to try.

Now WhizComms is also having $20 promo similar to Simba. Looks like the competition is heating up. Their network is powered by Singtel somemore.....

singtel broadband is known for bad throttling during peak hours and peering issues.. and whizcomms is 1gbps+1gpbs+0.5gpbs for you to fully maximize 2.5gbps unlike simba’s single port 2.5gbps

if your router is not even wifi 6e i would say 500mbps is sufficient. with wifi 6e router you can hit 800-900+mbps with a 1gbps plan, but with a wifi 6 router most of the time is 300-600mbps only, not much difference from 500 mbps plan

Yes what you said is very true. That's why all these years I've using just the 500 Mbps plan. Don't fall for those advertisements touting higher speed. Most likely you'll end up paying more for nothing.

should not be. I can connect immediately after turning airplane on and off. but it cannnot last for a few minute.

i also did not receive sms from simba informing about the roaming status.

that was how long ago? as along as your phone supports volte, you DO NOT need an app to make phone calls.

my wife is using iphone x. but she says she has clients who told her that they called her. .... but her phone didnt even ring.

So i wanted to ask, is it a problem with the phone? too old?

I think if the call at her colleague side did hear the ringing tone, than not the volte issue liao. volte issue from my understanding wont ring ,it will just cut off. nowadays many simba customers receive calls need the caller to ring a longer time before it shows the incoming call from their phone. my wife call me takes longer than previous to see it ring on my phone..

Now that giga launched 5G plans that is possibly using 5G SA (infra network shared with M1), now more or less the plans they offered seems to almost matching Simba's plan.

Giga 5G $18.33/MTH plan, it has 300GB (5G SA), 2GB roaming for 5 countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India and South Korea).

Comparable Simba plan

Sim-Only 200GB 5G $12/MTH, it has 200GB (5G NSA) *130GB after 6 months. It has 2GB International roaming, 300IDD minutes, call back Singapore for free when roaming, free incoming calls when overseas.

and also

SuperRoam 50GB $20/MTH, it has 130GB local data, 50GB Malaysia Data, 10GB Regional data roaming. 10GB regional roaming to Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam. 300minutes IDD. Call back Singapore for free when roaming, free incoming calls when overseas.

So people will need to decide for themselves. Most people 100GB data more than enough. Giga has 5G SA, while Simba has better data, voice roaming.
