Always been curious about barang. Some people talk until the barang give them so much help in career, love life etc

Any notable ajarns that makes barang?
sorry, i had never bought a single barang during my close to 20yrs experience in thai amulets. for me i only go for mainstream thai amulets with trading values in thailand.

Interesting that there are more fakes in Singapore. About 7 years ago, there used to be a shop in VivoCity that sold 2nd hand stuff including Thai amulets with price tags. Noticed that those had a temple certificate of some sort, wonder if those could be also fake. A few years ago, I visited big temple in Chiang Mai and bought a Pidtah, ivory smooth unlike those expensive old models with rough texture but bought it any way as it is better than risked getting a fake one in shops.
in the past, they do have amulets competitions held in the temples but it had ceased very long ago. now certifications are done by recognised thai amulet bodies but i normally do not take into consideration such certification, it is just a good to have for me. i am more concerned on the original condition and beautifulness of the amulet as it greatly affect the price by several times.

regarding fake amulets, most of the amulet shops in pantip are full-time dealers, so they do not sell fake (at least to my knowledge/encounter) to anyone else as it gives them a bad reputation in the industry. however, the most common tactic is to sell real amulet with tampered condition at original price tag or mark up the price of the amulet significantly when selling to foreigners. being said that, the price is still lower than what you can find in singapore.

if you are a newbie, it is normal to consider newly temple released amulet as the safest but when you get to know the dark side behind all these, you may reconsider your option again. hope it helps.

Just received notification from my subscribed channel, another Wat Paknam collection video by amulet legend. Actually I prefer powder amulets but share the video here for those who prefer metal one.

powder amulet will crack easily if you are wearing it. if the amulet has trading value in thailand, it will significantly affect the price of it should you want to sell it later.

so for amulet with trading value and you intend to wear it daily, it is better to buy metal pieces and waterproof it. over the years, the price will rise and you can get profit later by selling it.

amulets are for safety and protection only. i do not really believe it can gives you luck or wealth. to get wealth can only be through your own effort and hardwork, it can never come from amulet. at most it works as a confidence booster to you. in the old days, i am sure no monks promote their amulet to give wealth or luck. it was all added by dealers to push up demand for amulets. therefore, the real purpose is really just for safety and protection. When you made a merit in the temple (donation), they give you for rememberance.

as to why getting amulet with trading value only is mainly because they were conscercrated by old guru monks who were recognised for several decades in thailand for their effective amulets. When there are demand for their amulets, then come along the trading values.

when i wear an amulet for safety and protection, i had to be sure it is conscercrated properly and are not typical commercial amulets which are made for money making purpose.

Lp Toh, Lp koon, Lp pae, Lp tim, Lp phrom, lp thuad these are all very good for safety and protection.

Their amulets don’t come cheap. I saw a pidta from LP Koon once which was very affordable but it was consecrated towards the tail end of his life, and I've heard stories of how his disciples were making him bless amulets even though he was bed ridden. Very sad

LP Tim of Wat Lahan Rai?

yes their amulets definitely do not come cheap. Some models had some issues which you mentioned and therefore are significantly lower priced than other models of the same monk.
Lp Tim, Lp koon and Lp toh currently are quite expensive in the market due to price increase. Is up to individual if they are willing to pay for it or not

What would a LP Tim 2516 KP pong prai guman be trading at now? I was looking at one last year but even then, the price put me off

LP Tim Khun Pean Pong Plai Guman 2517, do you mean that?

In thai amulet circle, people only collect Block 1. Khun Pean Phim Lek has pink, red, white, yellow and black meat. those red, yellow and black meat made only like 20+ each only and are not the reach of normal players. if you happen to see one, please run far away. they are known to cost upward of 3m to 5m baht onwards.

white meat with gold plating is the most common and price depend on the condition of it, ranges from 500,000b to 1,000,000b++ depend on the beautifulness of it. do bear in mind that these is a very difficult amulet, if you need to get one, please only get from very reputable dealers in thailand.

KP Plai Guman are not the most popular of lp tim amulets. the coins like sema 8 rob and chareporn coin have a far higher price tag than the kp plai guman because they are more straight forward and has no controversy or issue surrounding it.

It was listed as 2516 but it looks similar to 2517 phim lek block 2. Most of the models you quoted are way above budget. I'm not a big timer

What is the budget? Thai people normally choose the monk then the image that he created seldom chose from the image type first. Somdej for starter is probably the somdej bangkunpong 09.

i always buy from Thailand in pantip ngam wong wan 2nd or 3rd floor but more recently from Thai collectors themselves. Do you believe me that I seen more fakes in Singapore than in pantip?

600sgd can only get Lp thuad 2524 from wat changhai. Maybe will exceed budget by a little depending on whether it is beautiful condition or not.
For Lp thuad amulets, I know many monks made it but my preference is always get the one from archan tim.

sorry can’t help much as couldn’t think of one around this price.
