You cannot impose your way of learning over how other think and learn. By mandating or assuming ppl to follow your way of thinking is like commie mindset. Accept this world is full of ppl not tuned to your same wave length. Feed same kind of rice come out different kind of ppl.
this is not a matter of learning styles. it is just that is too lazy. to read. if he can read the postings, why he cannot read the real stuff that is needed. then he would not have to ask so many obvious questions

I wholeheartedly agree with you!!
Especially the tbills thread, if everyone read and understand 1st 2 posts and then post pertinent questions then we don't have to keep rereading the questions and answers that have been repeated countless times!!

If we buy A2 from open market, we can pay using USD? Or?
Cheapest way to buy A2? DBS Vickers cash upfront can work?

Huh not its not. Its just a retail bond leh. Lehman "mini-bond" was never ever a "bond" in the traditional sense leh.

Astrea is also a structured product, this is why it is rated A+ under structured finance by Fitch.

Actually the naming of the product can be misleading depending on how one wanna interpret it. I believe each reader just read the prospectus and try to understand how it works instead of just focusing on the name of the product.

Zzz structured finance...structured product... Means differently bah

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collateralized_fund_obligation
A collateralized fund obligation (CFO) is a form of securitization involving private equity fund or hedge fund assets, similar to collateralized debt obligations. CFOs are a structured form of financing for diversified private equity portfolios, layering several tranches of debt ahead of the equity holders.

Another person that needs to read wikipedia.

No one compares with Hyflux Preference shares?
There is one hardcore Astrea supporter called limster that keep sorta of shoot down other posts when ppl say bad about Astrea bonds. I have said Hyflux much earlier. The more he protect the more we know he dump quite a bit inside and it works becuz previous tranche no issues earn monies and laughs to the bank. His monies his choice and I wish him more years of monies to earn from Astrea bonds.

The loss of credibility for Temasek would be worth more than the value of the bond itself.

Unless Temasek is desperate, it would be better that the bond would not default.

It is not just moral hazard, it is also pure business decision.

Besides, there was loss for CDOs during 2008. Most of the high-grade MBS did not lose money in the end. Just see how AIG recovered. There was a lot of panic. There was liquidity squeeze. After that, there was not that much loss for high-grade MBS itself.

sorry first time bought PE bonds but can I know:
- who's the custodian of the bonds we bought?
- any maintenance (e.g. quarterly fees) to pay to the custodian? e.g. banks charge $2 + GST for each counter of UT we bought with CPFIS every quarter

No one is saying we need to do a fair comparison. Readers are just voicing different opinions. limster seem to take issue whenever such posts appear. He seems to be too over protective of Astrea bonds. Anything bad he will post back sorta Astrea bond knight in shiny armour.

This is a forum where there are bound to be different voices and he just need to accept it. Posting back whenever ppl talk bad just show how desperate he is in his conviction in Astrea bonds. It is like he don't like to read posts talking bad about Astrea bonds.
