It is good, I am using it as well. But they are not cheap.

https://www.aosbath.com/product/digital-heater-40-lit/

The hot water is pretty instant if you select "Single" mode instead of Standard / Multi. Single just heat up half tank of water so you don't waste electricity heating up the whole tank if you are the only one showering with hot water.

Standard heats up the entire tank, and Multi heats up the entire tank and continuously to support 2 bathroom using concurrently (more of an overkill but good to have).

You can adjust the temperature also, as low as 40-45, or as high as 55-60. Depending how hot you want the water to be and how much mixing ratio you want. More hot water means dilute more with cold water and can last longer but electricity goes up. Or lower temp hot water at 40-45 degrees but use a higher ratio of hot to cold water.

It's a balancing act, whatever suits your needs. I set at 45 degrees Single mode and save electricity that way.

I repeat, for single use, the hot water is almost instant. Maybe just need to wait 1-2mins to heat from 30+ degrees to 40 degrees, and you can turn to maximum hot and get the newly warmed up hot water to start your shower.

Hello all, would like to ask a dump question regarding water heater.

As I am planning to buy gas instant heater, most of the model for HDB are showing use of point is 2 only, does it mean I can only connected to 2 shower? and not able to connect to washing machine / kitchen sink?

Don't worry. U still can get the hot water for your kitchen mixer as long u have the hot water pipe.
All the hdb cold and hot supply are from the same source. The gas instant water heater supplied the hot water to the whole house.

I guess the meaning of "point 2 " as if the gas heater is able to supply 2 shower with hot water at the same time.

Just shifted in a MOP-ed flat that used Rinnai gas heater. After a full month of staying there, my bill for gas was 199kWh which is insanely high considering my usual cooking habits did not change and from previous flat which was using instant electrical heater.
The past month we just kept the gas heater on at 42 degree so i was thinking it could be the culprit. Is it ok to just off the gas heater and on it whenever we need to shower only? will it cause any issue to the gas heater if frequently on and off it?

Today the AOS Bath guy came over to replace the water heater.

Old Water Heater : ELJH-40
Installed since : 2016 (Lasted 8 Years nia)

The installer came and check and said cannot repair as the internals are damaged and hence leaking ... so bo bian ..have to change a new one... (So give them one more chance ... changed a new heater same model.. if so fast spoil again ... then will likely blacklist this brand..)
Total damage : $891 including installation. 😭😭

I tink internally leaking causing rusting.

The guy say ...best is don't leave the water heater on 24/7 .. .. is that true huh ?

Tbh, 8 years is rather decent already... And yes no point to turn it on 24/7.. Really waste electricity..

I wouldn't fault my storage heater for sure if it lasts 8 years lol..

Your leak could be due to the internal anode rod too long never replace hence so...

Yours is a Gen 1.

I'm using a Gen 6 storage heater tank from them since 3 years ago - Jan 2021. Still going strong and I don't turn on 24/7.

I use it like an instant heater, each time I shower I turn it on and it will heat up whatever residual water left to the desired set temperature (50 degrees, single use half tank).

Hi, so u mean just install one tank and it can support 2 bathrooms?
i had the impression that one tank supports 1 bathroom.

Depends on so many variables. How hot you do you bathe? And how long do you take your bath / shower?

Normal use, if full 40L heated to 50-55degrees, it's more than enough for concurrent usage (with heater turned on).

Also depends if your 2bathroom is side by side or 2 different corners. Then more hot water will be wasted by travelling in the pipes.

40L is the smallest size that AOS offers, other brands got 15L 20L 25L (presumably for 1 bathroom usage) so based on that logic I don't see how 40L is insufficient for 2 bathroom.

Moreover, how often does both bathroom use hot water concurrently?

Thanks.. previous house bathrooms was not that close to each other.
Upcoming house is like next to each other.. maybe can see if can opt for one unit of storage heater.
Kinda like the idea of AOS timer so we dont have to rush back to switch on the heater.

You should be buying the heater cos of the brand (quality) and capacity and not just due to timer.

If your objective is to have full tank of hot water by the time you reached home. Then a simple modification to any (dumb) storage heater is to change your heater switch to a 20A smart switch and remotely turn it on when your ETA is 15-20mins. It will be a cheaper alternative.

Same logic as using a kettle to boil water.

If you're not boiling water, don't use the kettle.

Same logic as using a kettle to boil water.

If you're not boiling water, don't use the kettle.

But most people want hot water on demand without sacrificing water pressure (instant heater).
