I used 3gb/day e-sim from this hk-based company. Paid in USD using youtrip card. They have an unlimited plan as well.

My recent airalo expeience was positive, posiive in connectivity, didnt bother with speed tests, whatsapp, instagram, yt, google maps, X, etc. Been to ulu ulu places in Gifu and Toyama pref. Things that I normally do in singapore they worked there too. Most of the time I was on their Softbank network.

I am sure Ubigi also similarly good, the defining factors are their prices, IMO

not sure if airalo has activated 5G by now but I used ubigi for my last trip because it has 5G.

when i roaming with low data mode, my usage is less than 500MB per day. I only use data for maps, X, IG, WA and some google search. If intensive map use is expected, it's better to dowload off line maps first before setting out.

Ive always used unlimited data in japan. But this time i wanna use the free roaming data in my sim plan, mainly for google maps. So I'm surprised to see the high usage.
