guys, my draft itin:

Few nights at Tromso, flying in from Brussels(after visiting Bruges).

Stay there in hope of seeing aurora(please god, let me see them!, the temp is so low, it will be torturous time for me & wife)

next would be flying down to Bergen, stay a few nights , do a ferry trip from Bergen straight to Flam through its fjords. Stay in Flam one night, do a viewpoint and a waterfall hike, then leave Flam via the Flam Railway to Myrdal and then back to Oslo

The rest of days would be spent in Oslo.

How's that? Anything I can add or should remove? I used the below resources and lots of YT:

https://www.vy.no/en

https://norway.nordicvisitor.com/tr...pzkNoPt7CCRAeBNElbqObqVestu8uf4EaAgfzEALw_wcB

I must say Norway is such an expensive destination, after this trip I need to tighten my belt and go for some lower cost EU countries to recover :(

i just use my phone and small table tripod. tiagong most NL tour would provide the full size tripod and even some on site lessons on how to take photos of NL.

mid Oct will be at Tromso, flying back from Oslo towards the last week of Oct. for NL, longer night is better, it fits our aim lo. Other cities are just side itin of the main NL itin.

end nov onwards all day no sun liao, in a sense, its the best time for NL chasing but many activities cannot be done in the dark, eg hiking etc. this will limit your time there for a singular purpose of NLchasing.

https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/norway/tromso?month=11&year=2024

and Tromso is also cloudier than the inland places like Abisko,, Rovaniemi etc

oh man... so where did u decide to go eventually? i'm going solo, so a lot of freedom of choice.

trying to come up with a multi-city/country europe-ish tour that justifies the long flight hours to fly there -.-

haven't even go to places like spain, germany or amsterdam, etc. very sua ku.

solo is good too, chop chop everything, no need to negotiate with anyone, debate and argue

wah looks like you have an ambitious plan. you can still chiong Tromso lah, just move southward after your northernlight. for me, Norway is super expensive, if whole day dark dark and cold, after NL i would leave for warmer european cities liao.

i see that Tromso has flights to Chania, Crete island, Greece. maybe you can consider that for your south europe itin. or fly to oslo/copenhagen/helsinki, do a quick 2 days there then move on to south europe.

yeah I'm the kind that cannot stay in one place for too long. not a city/museum/shopping/cathedral person so I think I will become very bored (especially if the weather is cloudy and no chance of NL).

my friend suggested Lapland of Finland but no idea which city/town within Lapland since it's quite a big region.

so I'm still pondering whether to try Tromso/Lofoten Islands first, if no luck then fly to Lapland, or the other way round 😅 seems like Lofoten Islands is good place for hiking but yeah the daylight is an issue.

then after that fly south for warmer weather and more daylight to hike somewhere in europe.

i'm planning for late Nov:
- 2 days in Copenhagen
- 3 days in Tromso (4 days if no luck of NL by Day 3)
- 3 days in Rovaniemi
- 2 days in Oslo (or Helsinki?)
- fly back via Copenhagen (or directly from Helsinki)

any comments?

2 days in Copenhagen and 2 days in Oslo is very short. Did you buffer in the travel time?

Suggest you do 4 days Copenhagen or 4 days Oslo.

Daylight hours are really short in November.

In my opinion, your trip is for 10 days only. Not really worth spending 'so much' for a 10 days trip. Unless you got yourself a really cheap airfare and accommodation.

from what I gathered, as a city, Copenhagen trumps Oslo. should be a nicer place to chillax a bit before flying back to SIN.
