Won't the rate be crap anyway if we do not have a Thai bank account?
I use revolut which has a better rate for the bigger purchases like car rental, hotel etc.
I've seen smaller shops have the option to scan and pay but I use cash for all smaller purchases.

you would need to include the +66 to the mobile number you are sending to... that is what i am doing for the UOB app...

Works fine for me for scanning of their PromptPay QR, scanned it using DBS Bank App.
When it did not work, asked for their contact number and transfer over to them since using DBS SG - THAI paynow-promptpay is free.
Rate was good back end of last year when I went over. Convenient!
thanks for sharing, it is convenient, perhaps will try it when i am in thailand next trip

SG version will not work there. I have been in Thailand for quite some time and they are already ahead of SG when it comes to QR payment.
If you want to do Paynow to their Promptpay account, check first. As sometimes the seller's number is not registered with the bank, so they are unable to receive the money through promptpay.

yes agreed. Thailand is ahead of sg when come to digital payment

It is not worthwhile at all to use promptpay due to the bad exchange rate (i think there is a minmum amount also) and it does not work for most of the night market vendors but there are very limited options as a tourist. If you go TH often enough, it is worthwhile to pay some money to open a Bangkok bank account after which you can scan and pay like a local using the app.

i tried this on my recent trip, the Kasikorn E-wallet and it works just like the bangkok bank app, downside is only the Suvarbhumi airport branch can open this card and top up the wallet and the only way to put money inside is by using foreign currency. Can read about it from the link.
