For some reason the remote displays everything fine, but when we press the on/off button, the display will flash a lot of numbers for 1-2 seconds, then all the settings will reset to default. If we adjust it to normal settings again (e.g. 24 celsius), it works fine as far as we can tell...but after a few hours if we press the on/off button again, it will reset everything back to normal again...

Does anyone know why it is doing that? Is it a sign of low battery?

I don't have this problem with the original Daikin remotes.

But I have this problem with the cheapo third-party lookalikes. I suspect it's a battery/voltage thing

Change the batteries to try or buy another remote control from the internet.

I am not using the app at all. If i use another remote it is fine, just this one keeps resetting for some reason.

Any idea where can buy the batteries? The instructions for replacing the batteries also seem inaccurate, it says to "slide down the back cover" but that is impossible because there is a screw...

Wah lao eh. You want an middle-aged uncle to teach a tech-savvy youngster how to change the batteries in a remote control? 🤦😓 There's tool called screwdriver 🪛?

Can you Google?

No need screwdriver to reach the battery compartment

Just need to manuveur the sliding piece out.

If your remote has a sliding cover, the batteries are located at the front. Simply with a little force slide the cover down to reveal the battery compartment.
