I'm liking what I see that I can do with the avata 2 flying using googles and the joystick ....but the 20plus mins is a turn down for me .....would it be the same experience using the mini 4 or air 4 with the google and joystick in fpv ....both of these seems longer flight time ....any opinion

is this a CAAS requirement? say i stay in a landed i within 5km of aerodome, can i fly vertically up 60m or more?

happy CNY 2026!,...

try email CAAS, i was told something like they will reply you as:
- you can fly indoor inside your home even within 5km of airport (enclosed space, drone no escape)
- the enclosed space has to be residential property (not commercial property), and less than 50 people inside.
- recreational only, non-profit activity
- if your home is under police or military no-fly-zones, then you write to police or mindef.

go write CAAS an email and get their confirmed reply. CAAS changes their nfz/policies, or changes their mind frequently. :)

i would suggest: fly PC game drone simulators at home, fly real drones at outdoor and enjoy the fresh air, sunshine.

i have quite few tiny drones/whoops but i only fly them outdoor.

anyone bought drone (non DJI) from taobao before? any recommendation for travel purpose?

happy CNY 2026!,...

for simple selfie photo during tour, suggesting getting a used dji Neo1 from carousell. Neo1 without RC (Drone, 3 batteries, charger) should be around S$150 or less now.

for simple selfie photo+video during tour, suggesting getting a new dji Neo2.

dji neo1/neo2 have propeller guards, it is more "kids friendly".
for tour purpose, better get some more well known brands to avoid any batteries safety problems when passing through aircraft safety/security checks.
if you get dji drones, you can sell on carousell as used item later. but you will have problem getting rid of those cheap drones.

those cheap drones are simply too problematic and will not give you the video/photo quality. before you get those cheaper drones, check out these features of dji neo1/neo2 first: GPS, 2-axis camera gimbal, Better Video quality, Rocksteady, Longer Flight time, gesture control, omnidirectional obstacle sensing, angle/manual mode, return to home, dronie quickshot, orbit/circle quickshot, follow me quickshot, brushless motors, longer range, geofencing, FPV goggles, motion control stick, simultaneous charging of 3 batteries.

i have dji neo1/neo2, my skill can only do simple tortoise speed flying... i cannot find cheaper drones with this video quality, and simple operation/control that everyone can fly easily..

some main differences between avata2 & mini/air/mavic in fpv
1) aerobatic
- avata2 for aerobatic and mini/mavic for photography. mini/mavic cannot flip or cannot dive down a waterfall.
2) fpv video feed/streaming latency
- avata2 about 30mS video delay and mini/mavic about 100mS. You can fly avata2 into woods without problem but for mini/mavic likely you will crash into trees.
3) camera gimbal
- avata2 single axis (gimbal locked under M-mode) and mini/mavic has 3-axis. video from mini/mavic more stable.
4) thrust/weight ratio
- avata2 has ratio of 3+, and mini/mavic has <2.
5) propeller diameter
- avata2 is 3in, and mini/mavic are 5-7in. larger propeller has better efficiency but movement is less agile.
6) drone body structure
- if your avata2 crashed on grass, likely unscarred. but your mini/mavic crashed on grass might ended with a broken arm or broken camera gimbal

in short, mini/air/mavic cannot fly like an avata2. avata2 cannot output stabilized video like mini/air/mavic.
until dji come out another avata2 with 2-axis camera gimbal (or, some enlarged version of neo2 drone), then avata2 is able to produce mini/air/mavic type of stabilized video
===========

Buy more batteries for avata2 to solve the shorter flight time problem.
Decision on getting an avata or an mini/air/mavic for fpv should be on "how you want to fly the drone, aerial photography or aerobatic? ".

i have one avata2, neo1 and neo2. my per flight time is usually 3-4min. 3min length already can capture a lot of videos. i'm trying to go for 2min flight time.
