Rtings Bravia 7 reflection rating - 7.1
Rtings X90L reflection rating - 7.2

IMO, my X90L's reflection is pretty bad. Diffused light from outside my window onto the white wall behind me, will get a good bright patch reflected on my TV screen. That's diffused light. Direct light, be in on wall behind me or onto screen, can forget about watching anything on screen. Thus, I always pull the blinds over my side windows to keep room in a pretty dim state during daytime. Bet your Bravia 7 will be worse.
Hihi, i'm looking to get a new 75" tv. Chance upon this X90L, may i know how is your views so far? Picture quality, HDR contents, Dolby Vision. Is the sound good enough, no need soundbar? Bravia 7 vs X90L, which one higher end? Thank you

Overall, pretty good!

PRO
:
  • Good PQ. Natural-looking visuals - Standard mode good enough for movies & dramas, and Vivid mode good enough for anime & donghua. Haven't tried gaming on it yet.
  • Youtube HDR looks good.
  • Never tried Dolby Vision yet.
  • Action clips looks pretty sharp with only a bit of motion blur
  • Sony reigns supreme in upscaling low quality contents
  • Sound quality seems better than typical TVs. Feels like having a wider soundstage than soundbar. Will satisfy non-bassheads i.e. no need soundbar.

CON:
  • Obvious blooming in white on black background. For example, text and white logos on black background will see obvious bloom in dark room. Blooming isn't noticeable to me in daytime viewing, but as I watch in dark room often, this blooming tires my eyes. Note that I mostly use this TV as a PC monitor. For anything else, even movies and anime in the dark room, the blooming doesn't bother me. Bravia 7 will reduce this blooming, but only OLED will truely eliminate it.

As I'm a basshead, I got myself a soundbar. If you want bass, a 2.1 soundbar is the minimum ... something like our local Creative Stage 360 (Dolby Atmos) or the cheaper Creative Stage V2 soundbar. This TV, like most other TVs, has hardly any bass.

Bravia 7 is superior to X90L. Cost more but looks better, coz significantly more local dimming zones.

Thank you for write up, I'm not so much concerned about blooming, although a bit irritating as my current Samsung 4k smart monitor also suffers this too, though picture quality looks good.

I'll visit the showroom to take a look. Thank you

I used to be a Schumacher fan once upon a time ... until (i) overtaking became almost extinct and (ii) unlikeable people like Max keeps winning, so I switched to MotoGP, WSBK, cycling and badminton live events. There was once I 4-way split-screen my TV, so I could watch biking, cycling and badminton live streams smiultaneously while surfing the web at the same time. LOL

I'm not rich, so I don't subscribe to Netflix, but stream whatever free donghua, anime, drama & movies off Youtube and the web.

Sure, the Sony X90L is pretty smooth in gaming action, but it still feels not-smooth-enough. Would've chosen OLED for their instantaneous pixel response times, but can't afford it. Also, I like Sony's superior image processing which upscales low-res contents really well, and make them look natural. My other LG TV's colors just look "OFF" in some way ... just like the Samsung's over-vivid images.

Like you guys, there were times when I wish I could sit 2.8 - 3 m away; especially when watching melodramas with the actor's face occupying the entire screen, but I can't, coz of my tiny room. 2.4 m and I'll start stepping on the bladeless fan behind me, coz my room's about 2.5 m in width. No biggie though. I'm used to it now. PC work, gaming & movies, I go closer. 16:9 contents, I maximise my 2.3 m distance.

Let's continue to enjoy our awesome Sony TVs! 🥳

OBTW, at just 20% volume, my Samsung Q990C soundbar will shake the glass windows and cupboards in my tiny room! Had to buy a subwoofer acoustic dampening mat to be put under the sub before I can increase the volume further. LOL. Love the overkill TV & soundbar in my tiny room!

I share the same exact sentiments. F1 was boring when Hamilton and Max were overly dominant. But this season is really fun and I’m hoping Ferrari win Constructor and Lando winning Driver championship.

I too enjoy other sports like badminton, tennis, both I only watch men’s singles.

I think OLED is a good to have but for now, Full Array does the job just fine and also within my budget considering the big picture of doing a complete home reno, I really don’t want to over splurge on TV for now. 75X90L is a good and decent mid range to start.

How do you find the default TV speakers? I believe it’s 4 side and down firing speakers right?

I have a Bose 700 Soundbar and Bass module so I will pair with it for home entertainment.

at some point, will consider getting the Teo Heng BMB karaoke set to double those speakers as TV speakers.
Was trying out the Bravia 7 TV speakers just now, was actually not bad, i tested it with Max's 2019 Brazil GP Pole Lap. Whenever, i want to try any speakers, i will use this sweet Honda engine sound.

Yes, this season is fun, with so many different winners, max without a fastest car able to win the championship. It's amazing.

If i am going to purchase bravia 7, which im deciding, i mainly use it to watch formula one and disney+.

anyone using 2024 Sony Bravia7, how is your reviews?
If u are still hesitating between X90L and Bravia 7... just close eyes and hoot Bravia 7 with no regrets.

The reflection issue is not really a big problem in bright room.

TV Speakers still able to handle daily use. But if u want the bass/impact, do purchase a soundbar or speakers system to enhance your experience.

Picture quality and colors are quite ok out of the box with no calibrating.

Google TV OS works as it is - with popular apps installed - youtube, disney+, prime, netflix. If you want to surf internet, u may download internet browser app and install with ease due to Google TV OS built-in.

Just to check, if I buy a Sony Bravia 7, is the warranty from Sony or the retailer?
3yrs warranty direct via Sony.

However, if u buy via HN, Courts, Gaincity and purchase their extended warranty - this means after 3rd year - got any issues - u have to call the retailer and they will notify Sony tech to come rectify.

Have had the 75 " Bravia 7 for the last 1-2 months.Installed in the living room.

Not using the Native TV apps . Have my Nvidia Shield TV pro 2019 connected to it.
Apps used - Youtube ( unfortunately the Shield lacks the HDR support for Youtube - but it looks fab anyways ) , Disney + , Netflix , Prime Video US (VPN).

Settings https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/bravia-7-qled/settings

- Professional mode under the Picture settings and then increase/decrease brightness depending on the room.I have my brightness at 15.
- Dolby Vision bright for those apps that support

Its just remarkable how nice the panel looks .

I don't see much/if ANY blooming ( had a 2012 model 55 " Sony and it bloomed like crazy esp at life end )

Sound quality - ok I guess but I cant stand TV sound.it's a thin panel after all.
Have the TV connected to a set of small active speakers + an SVS subwoofer.

I did see the 65" Bravia 8 ( OLED ) side by side in store at Best Denki Vivocity and was very tempted since the blacks and contrast are definitely better but the Organic part of OLED and potential for burn in scares me.So I decided to upsize and got a decent enough deal on the 7.

Highly recommend!!

Max without the fastest car is only half true. He had the fastest car when Adrian Newey was still with RBR. It was only after he left things went downhill. Before that Max was winning races all the way.

I prefer the v8 era not the 1.6 hybrid for raw engine sound

disney+ is really better than Netflix imo.
