Can anyone give me their opinion regarding the routers, thanks,

I'm going to recontract, currently using an Old Asus AX58U for years and have no issue with it, is the Archer Be230 worth topping up for?

Hello, are you able to advise whether this promotion will be the best/cheapest in the market so far? advisable to recontract at 24.90 with 2X24 = 48 for Archer BE230 or take up 6Gbps?

6Gbps plan at S$34.90 for new user (or S$32.90 recontract offer) with free Archer BE805 is of better value if available for your area.

EX520 will not have much resale value, maybe S$40.
Archer BE230 resale value is less than S$100.
Archer BE805 resale value is at S$300+.

Then no need to change.

Can sell the free EX520, maybe its resale value will be S$40. It is a lousy router. Your Asus RT-AX58U is better.

Cannot do recontract without select router, so no savings if add useless router cost.
I added the route, the cost is the same $24.90 per month. Just opt for the free route can le. Then take the free router and try to sell.

I am currently on th 500mbps, fixed line and1GB mobile data card at $29.90. Does the 1GB plan at $24.90 have that too?

Yes. During sign-up, they gave me a new number for the mobile SIM card (5G). I am not sure whether it is additional line or meant as a replacement line.

So far I've not been using it as I don't want to risk paying excess charges.

Hi Xiaofan, I opted for the BE230 intending to replace my Huawei BE3 Pro (2.5Gbps). But with the 1Gbps service turned on, it seems like my current Huawei router can handle it well. Do you deem the BE230 to be an upgrade over my current Huawei?

We are too late, the most possible scenario is:
initially it supposed to have 3 Routers to select above the proceed page: one router is free, another two need to add monthly 6.xx and 13.xx respectively. Now looks all taken. So no more Router selection and cannot proceeds.

Waiting for them to update the system..

I feel for most people, this is the better deal than 6gbps.

1gbps and 6gbps unlikely to have any real world difference in typical usage experience for most people that mainly consume social media content and video streaming.

May I know when did you recontract? You received a new SIM card in the mail?

I didn’t opt for 6gbps cuz:

1. I don’t have many pple using internet at home
2. I don’t game
3. Having anything more than 1Gbps, you need to get new Ethernet adaptors, etc which I am trying to avoid, and don’t see the need to at this juncture.
4. You will not really feel much differences between 1Mbps or 6 Mbps cuz it all boils down to the hosting site of the websites, and many other factors. 1 Mbps is good for most pple usage actually.
5. Don’t want to change router as I have devices paired to the existing one, mafan to change unless no choice. My existing router is the asus I think ax58 or sth which is a far better router and I am very happy with it. Remembered spent $300+ to get it a few years back.

Yes.

Note: the bundled free router (TP-Link EX520) is very lousy so you may want to top up S$2 per month for the Archer BE230, if you do not have a good existing router.

EX520 is AX3000 mbps I thought should be quite okay for 1gbps? BE230 is not much better at BE3600 mbps

My current router Asus AX55 is only AX1800 but good enough for 500mbps

If sell BE805 router on carousell for $300 can bring down monthly cost to $22.90. If your location can support 6gbps even if you dont need it , very worth.

M1 changed the recontract price for 6Gbps?
No longer have 32.90

  • $34.90/mth only applicable for new sign up
  • For recontracting customers it will be $47.90/mth (U.P. $95/mth)

TP-Link EX520 (Aginet) is a TP-Link service provider model with slow bug fixes and lower feature compared to consumer model. You can always try it to see how good it is. Maybe it is good enough for simple use cases.

TP-Link Archer BE230 has dual 2.5G ports and it has more features (like Wireguard VPN Server/Clients) compared to EX520.

I was given a free TP-Link EX510 (Aginet) for my Starhub 5Gbps recontract installation today. I did not even ask the installer to open the package (but I will open it later and test it even though I am not going to use it). Rather I bought the TP-Link HB710 (dual 10G ports, triband WiFi 7 BE18000, also a service provider model) from Starhub at S$192 to use it as the main router. Still keeping the old Huawei AX3 Pro as well since some legacy devices may work better with it.

BTW, I am also not recommending using M1 issued RT-AX55 or RT-AX3000P as the main router, due to the 256MB RAM limitation. But maybe it is good enough for your use cases (say with only a few devices).

You have to be patient to wait for next batch of reconrtract offer, if you are an existing user. Some say the recontract offer is batch by batch (S$32.90 per month). Let's see.

the $32.90 recontract price for 6Gbps is for targetted out-of-contract m1 users per email dd 22 Jan.

I managed to sign up before the deal end on 22 Feb.

Not much unless you need to use 2.5G wired device. If you use wireless devices, no improvement.
