In my Mate X6, I too put my gmail address into the Huawei email app... seems ok. One other possible option is to put it into the open source Thunderbird app.
Maps seems ok for me with microG Services and microG Companion installed through AppGallery
Are you able to do navigation with Google maps even with micro G? It seems it cannot detect location

Latest update. Apparently it's fully working now. Even the Google maps and LTA transport app are now able to auto locate. I wonder if this is due to new updates to emui or it's because I am using harmony on m70pp

My Mate X6 is indeed a local set on EMUI. After reading what you wrote about Maps, I installed it just to try and it was able to detect my location (when allowed) and map the route to destination. But I don't need navigation all that much, and I think I will just use Petal Maps when needed.

Sometime ago, I tried Google's gmail app and it seemed OK with my said microG installations. But I uninstalled it and just put my gmail address in Huawei's email app. My gmail address is not my primary one.

Yah i tried on my matexs2 local set and all location functions now work on google maps, waze and sg transport :). I think the upgrades and improvements are both on emui and harmony. In anycase, its good news for huawei users :)
