But if you look at the Starhub thread, people sign up because of the S$29.55 per month promotion (now with free HB710 to compete with M1 6Gbps offer, used to have no router for the ONT option).

Even if you went back to the very beginning -- Starhub suddenly got quite some 10Gbps plan users because they bundled free Premier. So people signed up because they wanted to watch soccer, not because they needed 10Gbps.
most people dont use forums, or ask anyone about these.

Now the website is telling me that my plan is not eligible for re-contract with 6 Gbps. 2.5 Gbps still goes through.
Anyway, for those who want to actually keep and use the BE230 router, isn't 2.5 G currently better than 1 G?

Bloody annoying … called M1 Customer Service back around 8+pm because it turns out my mother doesn’t have an M1 ID - I mean, my mother is in her late 70s wtf - and they were telling me in that case recontract for the $15 off deal cannot be done over the phone, and they cannot create an M1 ID over the phone for us to recontract for her online, must go to M1 Shop … but the deal end 23:59 … wtf? :s8:

If 500Mbps is working fine for me, can I assume 3Gbps is of little use to me? I should just upgrade to 1Gbps only if the plan is cheaper than my 500Mbps plan (expired contract)? Right?
Just be wary "new" plan comes with discount for 24mths, thereafter likely to pay original price unlike previous where you continue to pay the same price. Might get stuck if there are no good offer 24mths down.

I will say no need to worry about 24 months later, the offers will be just better then.

Maybe the absolute per month subscription price will not go down by much, but you may get better router bundle.

Why not wait a bit longer since M1 will get ready to deploy 3Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps service in July 2025.

But if you don't want to wait, then just go ahead.

With the bold figures in comparison, it looks like there's no point going for any plan higher than 6Gbps unless you are into local websites.

When will your existing contract expire?

You may want to wait for the S$15 OFF M1 6Gbps offer.

If your contract has expired (or near to expire date), if you are keen, you can even sign up as new user at S$34.90 per month (with free Archer BE805). Then you can cancel existing one after the new plan comes online

Yeah. The shop also say can wait and sign up as new. Will just wait till expire and try every month before expire.

Many CSOs have no clues one, no matter it is Singtel/M1/Starhub. Just need to be patient and talk to another CSO or go to the shop.

Or better use this forum and check with others on their experiences.

No one can stop you from signing up as a new user -- you may have to use your family member's name though. It is just there will be some hassles, for example, if you want to keep your old digital voice number. And then NLT visit will be required usually as they need to use the second Fibre Terminal Port.

Agree, so many are poorly trained for the one job that they required

Sharing my recent experience with porting Singtel digital voice number to M1.

Do not call SIngtel to terminate your broadband (bundled with digital voice) until M1 notifies you that the port-in is successful. Singtel requires 7 days to terminate your broadband;

Failing to do so will require you to
  1. Call Singtel to "unterminate"
  2. Call M1 to proceed port in
  3. Wait for M1 to notify the successful port in
  4. Call Singtel to terminate (new effective date will be the date you call + 7 days)

They ask you to create ID right ? DId they tell must go to M1 shop to create ID ? Rhetorical question by the way, I know because I did it before from the comfort of my house sitting in front of my computer.

I am also M1 customer, was i annoyed that they are only pushing 6gbps promo for new users ? Sure. Could I have just signed as new user and then terminate my current plan ? Can. But I am not going trouble myself for a 6gbps plan that I cannot even utilise at all. So, i did the next easiest thing, recon to 3gbps which I CAN utilise, again from the comfort of my house sitting in front of my computer. The free router was delivered to my house and modem will also be the same.

price between the 2 plans ? $32.90 ( 3gbps ) vs $ 34.90 ( 6gbps )

Friend, that is exactly what they said, because they say they have no record of a mobile phone account or email address from my mother’s registration 3 years+
ago for us to be able to create the M1 ID ourselves. Don’t say recontract to 6G, can’t even recontract online to 3G or even 1G.

Y’know what they say about when you assume right.

M1 has a revamp of their website in 2015 where I had to a register for an ID tagged to my broadband account. That's how I got my current ID, done online. 10 years later, maybe their technology regressed to the point you have to go M1 shop now ?
