Hi everyone. I’m currently on the $8 plan. Upcoming trip to Australia.
If I choose to upgrade to the $18 plan, am I able to downgrade to the $8 after my trip? How does it work?

  • What eight plans can I change to? Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
    • Learn more about our plans here ($0, $8 and $18 Mobile Plans).
    • Change plan can be done via eight account or simply head down to our eight retailers/ service centre.
    • Your latest entitlements will take effect as soon as you upgrade. For downgrade, your plan will take effect after your current cycle of plan ends.

I was in JB for the past 2 days, the data roaming with the two partners are quite unusable - encountered a lot of spots with weak 4G connections, and also spots where it is non-existent at all (only EDGE connection). The area around KSL seems to be the worst for some reason.

Don't think it's the fault of Eight, more like issues with the mobile infra there
I encountered same issue.
Ever since after my Mid march in Taiwan (Was ok till last 2 days of my 10 days trip), I got issue connecting oversea.
Been to JB 3-4 times after Taiwan and the connection CMI, also non existed.
Had try airplane mode, restart and 4G but same.
However I got those 1-2 days esim from Shopee, it works without issue...

Thinking of porting out to another telco to try.

You could do that. But if your phone supports eSIMs then you could simply get a separate, lower cost data eSIM for Australia. For example, Always Mobile is offering 10GB of data in Australia valid for 30 days for US$6 (a little under S$8). (Hint: On their Web site select USD.) In other words, you can get 2GB more data (a total of 12GB instead of 10GB) for less money.

....And you probably don't even need to do that much. Your S$8 plan gives you 2GB of data in Australia (shared with several roaming countries). If the 2GB is enough, no problem, you're done. If you really do need more, buy an eSIM for more data when you actually need it.

You can check your Eight roaming data balance here.

Another variation is to buy an eSIM that includes a little bit of high speed data and unlimited low speed data for X days. For example, Billion Connect offers a 1GB eSIM valid for 30 days for US$2.36 (currently about S$3.10). After you've exhausted the 1GB you still get unlimited slow (128 Kb/s) basic Internet service — good enough for WhatsApp, a ride sharing app, getting directions in Google Maps, etc.

Went on a road trip to KL during the long weekend. Lost connection totally at checkpoint for unknown period of time.

On north south highway as well, probably not the right Telco for me..
20% of the time not working

Hi

Can I know which are the countries that I can call to SG, and receive calls from SG?

And how many minutes are included?

Thanks.

Same experience recently but don't think it is eight's fault.
Was at the kopitiam in JB, my eight and my family member's redone both cannot receive internet (Maxis). Not sure if it is because both are based on Starhub?

Another member's eSIM bought online can work.

Funny part is my work phone Singtel, roaming on Maxis network can receive internet at the same location, so I on hotspot.

Might be eight or starhub issue, I had no problem with Hotlink as 2nd sim which also uses Maxis network, so its definitely not due to poor signal etc. Same phone, same time, same place.

should be eight problem. ever since data is shared SG/MY. dec went MY no such issue, can even get 5G signal very stable. now set 4G auto, 5G auto, restart phone.....majority of the time is "E". Worst is that try calling also can't work too (becos no VoLTE????).

zero1 with strong 5G signal no problem....

Was at Batam last week. Suprisingly connection there is better than my main line (GOMO). Getting full bars most of the time and able to stream youtube etc.
Hi, your is $8 or $11.80 and above plan? Since $8 plan roaming data is not shared with SG.

So mean you also got "E" connection aka no data connection while in JB too?
Sorry, I don't really observe whether "E" or not, but it wasn't like no connection at all. There are spots whereby is good and some not as good.
