its just a way to call the different race. i grew up hearing my older uncle n auntie relatives calling indians kelingkias / malays kiaotor . they are in their 80s-90s now n basically speak dialect their entire life..

to them its not malicious, its just how is called during their era. somehow its becoming degratory now but some older ppl might not realised it.

Just like we call westerner angmo. If angmo angry can say we racist too

the very old folks talk like that. ah neh is relatively new . to the main dialect speakers anyway.

maybe the 40-50s onwards wont know it le. esp if they more use to mandarin n english.

my parents still use it if they talk in dialect cos they dunno what is the official way to translate 印度人 or 马来人 in dialect ( to them)

i think i know teochew call chinese tng sua lang (唐山人）or tng lang （ 唐人） for chinese.

at that time, chinese dun call themselve tiongkok ( its invented later after revolution then ccp communist took over n spread it)
