Does Myrepublic still have issues accessing Taobao PC site?

Which provider should I choose to mainly access china sites?

Been using Starhub fiber broadband for 2 years now and contract coming to an end. Previously with MR and would like to consider jumping back. However, from my experience using MR previously, cannot load taobao.com PC site smoothly and my research then concluded that the routing is not optimized.

Been reading the MR thread extensively and using the search function also cannot find anything relating to the issue I had previously. Want to hear from the bros/sis here first before my next commitment.

Wanna check with bros here if I should stick with Starhub still or jump ship to MR/VQ/WC/M1? Would like to hear from you guys and also pls participate in the poll below (can choose max 2 providers)

M1 is not great for china content but it loads taobao fine but overall it works ok just nothing to be proud about.
Viewquest always have random problem, if reliability is not important, the connection tend to work better than M1 for most route.
MyRepublic mostly have problem with specific site and route, not common but it get annoying. Reliability wise better than viewquest.
So which works for you is basically more like what problem you can accept.

Taobao has two IPs, one is IPv6 and other is IPv4. Taobao IPv6 is constantly garbage while IPv4 can varies.
If anyone want to do a simple ping to taobao, please do both
Code:
ping -4 taobao.com
ping -6 taobao.com

This is from my VPS that I am using as VPN running on GSL network.

Code:
PING taobao.com (59.82.122.165): 56 data bytes

MyRepublic Gamer is probably the best if China webiste latencies are important. M1 and SIMBA are probably the worst.

Reference: Fastest ISP thread, data were from Feb 2024 so may have some updates.

Singtel seems to be not bad in this case, no issues with both IPv4 and IPv6.

Take note different Singtel IPv4 segments may perform a bit differently. My one is at 115.66.xxx.xxx.

The report is that "s.taobao.com" may be worse for some ISPs, since "taobao.com" may use CDNs.

No issues from Singtel side though.

This happens to my M1 1Gbps legacy plan also, not sure if new plan will be better.

Yes it seems the taobao problem is solved, recently just return back to myrepublic and no longer have the issue but I am on the gamer plan now instead of the regular one like in the past. So it may or may not be fixed for the regular one.

Yes M1 have relatively bad ping to china BUT consuming content and shopping on taobao is mostly troublefree except for peak hour that you might encounter some loading time.
