Lucky. From moi M1 in west area to local VPS is 6ms + overhead. :confused: Reach M1 POP already 3ms.

The above results were from 3 Feb 2024 using Singtel 1Gbps plan.

The following results are from today's test using Singtel 5Gbps plan and using wireless, the wireless router used is Asus TUF-BE6500.

One thing I noticed is SH and M1 are very similar the routes that they advertise. I think SH has the edge over M1 in EU due to SH uplink seems to go through their own network if the destination ASN routes are sucks.

ST seems to mostly routes within their own international network backbone and only use Tier 1 for short haul interconnect, which is beneficial only for China. Their routing to other countries are not the most impressive They have terrible ping to some smaller SG providers because they refuse to peer locally in our top IXs unlike SH or M1 and they prefer interconnect at HK or USA.

Nope. Complain 3ms only nia. :LOL: The thing is I not sure if other ISPs in the area also have the same ping. Could well be NLT infra not so well connected here.

You may want to modify the script if you are not happy about data collection.

Sample results from my Singtel 5Gbps internet connection, using Intel N100 mini PC running Ubuntu 24.04 (10G capable with dual SFP+ ports based on Intel 82599ES chipset).

A lot of data will be used for the test. Do not carry out the test using mobile data connection.

6ms is a lot, that is like halfway to KL. GSL nowadays seem to be routing through Starhub to rest of the domestic ISPs, maybe starhub is choking and you can't really complain directly to starhub about it since you not their direct customer.

Both ways traceroute showing it is direct peering at BBIX SG for M1 <> GSL. Mainly it is because my ping to M1 POP sucks but there is also additional 1.3ms due to link from GSL POP at Equinix SG3 to my VPS provider DC. Which domestic ISP is using SH? From a friend's SingTel broadband, they connect to GSL using Lumen transit which is getting 2ms ping, way lower than mine.

Can anyone else try also to ping 103.167.150.90 from the home router? M1 also can as I am curious if it is my location infra issue.

Haha. Just input up to 2 IPs you want to compare against each other and in the location specify where you want to test.

So you can put `Western Europe,North America" and it will choose randomly any probes they have in those regions. Limit field specifies how many probes they will use.

You can use filters too using "+" to specify the city and even ASN u wanna use for each location for more consistent results. I'm using this filter for example to do the comparison table:

Why not?

Anyway, you can ignore the China results if you do not care about that. The above tests also test the latency to other parts of the world.

Did not see got other countries.

Taobao has two IPs, one is IPv6 and other is IPv4. Taobao IPv6 is constantly garbage while IPv4 can varies.
If anyone want to do a simple ping to taobao, please do both

1) No such issues for my Singtel 5Gbps plan, both IPv4 and IPv6 are fine.

Take note different Singtel IPv4 segments may perform a bit differently. My one is at 115.66.xxx.xxx.

Peering with china unicom and china mobile is the only part I can commend about ST's network compared to others. Lol. Even all my VPS cannot reach below 200ms in this test.



1) M1 vs ST
138.xx is M1 (AS4773)
151.xx is ST (AS9506/AS7473)

Taobao should be the same as "Hangzhou Alibaba Advertising Co.,Ltd." based on their IP.

It looks like not always ST has the direct path. Different results on different IP prefix too. But they probably covered enough peering to popular CN websites.

M1 packets are lossy compared to ST and SH as you can see above. Need to mention that after M1 bought NTT transit in early 2025, the ping to most CN sites has improved a lot in the 200-350 range compared to when we were hitting 400-800 with 50% packet loss last year (4PX couldn't load).

Anyone have MR gamer IP to add to the comparison? :lick:
