Do you find some line got a problem?
eg NEL, it’s already fully packed at Sengkang… and the subsequent stations passengers are unable to board…

means those at the middle of the lines towards the city or interchange will not be able to board the train because it’s full.
I usually board at kovan.. last time still can take backward to Punggol then come back with a seat.. nowadays with a new Punggol Coast might be too long to do that.

Won't it catch up with the earlier train also? In the end delay for everybody
Earlier trains hv to start early too.
Dont think will catch up.

Maybe 30 sec waiting time?

Just 2 cabins, how long will be the delay , 2 mins?

Or allocate a small single section at cabin 2 w door that only allows for exit from cabin 1, not allow to stand there?

Now also hv ppl at the door, temp exit to let ppl out n enter again.

This got nothing to do with adding carriage front and back.. but it doesn't really solve the issue during peak hour.. maybe help a little by prolonging the peak hour duration to reduce the impact of crowd...

Think they say before they need time to maintain the train when station is closed.. so if start earlier mean not enough time for maintenance..
The peak dont starts at 4 - 5 + am , i.e 1st train.
So wont affect their maintence.
Only affect the peak hrs.

If the train is full.. likely will.. now anywhere in the train just need to take 5-6 steps to reach any exits.. but if you are at the end of the additional carriage.. that's probably 30-40 steps already.. if it's full the people cannot move until the one in front start moving after the train has stopped etc some of the people have alighted to make empty space for people to move..

I mean peak hrs is Not at 4-5+am i.e 1st train 🤦‍♂️, so wont affect the maintenance.
You mean starting the first train earlier at 4-5am right?? That's the time they are doing the maintenance right?? What does it got to do with peak hour. If you start the train where previously they are doing maintenance then it obviously will affect it..

No, I mean peak hrs is not at 1st train.
Peak hours is after the 1st train.
So no impact on maintenance.

Then how the people going to alight?? Take longer each train and each station for both ends.. there is only 1 door to serve two carriages..
I mean if they are that stupid then deserve to sit in train as it loops in perpetuity till they become... dust and bones

Short answer is poor strategic planning.

Medium term answer is the cross country line which is 6 trailer and should help alleviate some congestion and ease travel to the edges of the island.

Long answer is we should look at long term land use and plan our train lines accordingly. Having to change a feeder bus for every train ride is not really a good experience as it adds time to the commute. If we are to increase housing density in existing mrt NSEW areas after the initial 99 year lease houses are due then we need a solution (maybe parallel track for express trains) to better improve transport speed and experience.

Actually our 750V systems already dictates that trains can't be faster than 2.5 mins interval. It's a physics limitation. 1500V ones such as the one in NEL in theory may achieve 2 mins intervals...
