At last after so much dilemma for 3 hours comparing different ways like creating new Samsung account for 10% discount, checking my EPP account, Lazada and Shopee, settled with Shopee and placed the order for 1TB version. Managed to to trade my S25 Ultra 256gb with some Overtrade also.

Still in kind of shock that spent almost 3K for a phone

i cancelled my order from Shopee as they cannot guarantee that device will be shipped by 25th July. So no choice to cancel the order.

Checking in here :s13:

Another Samsung launch, another review.

First and foremost, a big shoutout to @Dr.Vijay and @Galaxy Commander once again for making this possible, for me to experience the thinnest and lightest Fold that Samsung ever release.

Let me kickstart with the unboxing.

The box:

The beauty (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7), Unfolded:

The thiness/slimness of the beauty (unfolded):

The display-s:

Initlal Impression:
2 words to describe the device: Thin. Light.
I have owned Z Fold 4 before, and sold it off 1 week after owning it as the phone is very heavy and causing my pinkie to hurt when resting the device on it while using the phone. Samsung Z Fold 7 completely addresses my biggest complain!

When folded, it is the same thickness as my Redmi K80 Ultra. When unfolded, it is like 2 50 cent coin thin! Take a look at the hinge size :s13: so tiny compared to the last gen. In case anyone is wondering if the hinge is as good as before as the Z Fold series hinge is known to be able to open and close at extreme angle before snapping to a fully folded/unfolded, somehow I feel at the unfolded position, the angle before it snap to a fully unfolded position is way more than previous gen (maybe some can confirm on this as my last fold is fold 4):

Admire the thiness of the device, when unfolded, it is merely the thickness of a USB C port. Totally impressed by it. However, if you always rock your phone naked without any case, the slimness and thiness will cause the opening of the phone slightly tougher as it takes me time to get a good grip to start unfolding it (at least in my experience). Feels like the phone will fly out of your hand anytime :(

However, the ugly punchole at the inner screen is back on this series. How I wish that Samsung can maintain the full screen display and work on how to improve on the clarity of the UDC as the punchole somehow will hinder the beauty of the display during media consumption.

The crease has also been improved this generation. Looks way less prononced, and less "deep". I tried running my fingers along it, and can really feel the difference, though I doubt that one will keep swiping at that area when using the phone :s13:

As usual, thiness and lightweight comes at a cost of the battery size and heat dissipation. The battery size is only 4400mah and we will only start seeing SilC battery on Samsung phones from S26 series onwards based on rumours. With the increased front display and inner display size, I believe battery life will take a hit. Will test that in the following couple of days, as well as the heat management and dissipation on such a thin phone. I am pretty sure it will more or less be impacted based on my experience with the S25 Edge.

All right, closing off for now, everyone here have a great weekend ahead! Cheers! Happy preordering!

From various reviews, seems like there's heavily throttling which dips performance and brightness of the screens, heat issue as well especially in tropical countries like SG. Not sure if this can be rectified with OTA updates or merely a design issue, some claimed the throttling is to align with Samsung's claim of "all day battery life" hmm.

Yes I have the Z Fold SE, literally the same display as F7, the main display is reflective compare to my oppo N5, can see strong halo effect, it also makes the crease more obvious under certain angle
Hope Z Fold 8 will have some improvement on the anti reflective on thebinner screen.

Is the front main screen of Fold 7 default come with anti reflective like S25U?

https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7-6-5-battery-life-test/

Galaxy Z Fold 7 battery life isn't amazing, but most will find it more than enough

The Fold 6 clocked 5 hours, 15 minutes, and 15 seconds of screen on time, while the Fold 5 fell behind by a little over an hour. When performing the above mentioned tasks for one hour each, the Fold 7 either drained the same amount as last year's model or had a minor lead. The Fold 5 lagged behind the other two in every test, which shouldn't come as a surprise.

The test included tasks such as 4K video recording, Instagram Live, TikTok browsing, YouTube playback, and music streaming, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 came out on top with a total screen time of 5 hours, 36 minutes, and 31 seconds. It also maintained the coolest temperature under load, undoubtedly helped by its larger footprint, which helps with heat dissipation.

here u go... 1st battery drain test.

The video compares the battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold 5 using a demanding real-world test on mobile data.

The “Lover Of Tech” channel runs an extreme battery drain test on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold 5. The test is performed using only 4G/5G cellular data (no Wi-Fi) and involves running eight popular apps for one hour each. The apps tested are:
  1. Camera (4K 60 fps)
  2. Instagram Live
  3. TikTok videos
  4. Instagram Reels
  5. YouTube
  6. YouTube Music
  7. X Spaces
  8. Asphalt Unite Gaming
  9. WhatsApp video call
Key points from the video and comments:
  • The test aims to reflect real-world usage and is praised for its realism.
  • Viewers note that battery health and age can affect results, especially since older phones may have degraded batteries.
  • The Z Fold 7 is noted for being thinner, running cooler, and having better cameras, with Android 16 and One UI 8 out of the box.
  • Some viewers expect battery life on the Z Fold 7 to improve after a few weeks of use and software updates.
  • The video is well-received for its straightforward, data-driven approach and quick release after the Z Fold 7 launch.
Overall, the Z Fold 7 shows slight improvements in battery life and efficiency, but the differences are not dramatic due to similar battery capacities and the impact of battery aging on older models.

Thought the battery is higher density?
