OpenSignal doesn't really agree in their latest report.

StarHub and M1 share exactly the same 5G network since it's a joint venture.
Joint venture but tiagong the venture isnt 50/50. Someone mentioned being near an indoor SH base station on 5G and his SH device could connect but his M1 one couldn't, and came to the conclusion that it's possible SH set up some base stations first, and M1 will only get access once they paid their share for those locations.

i got a new phone and tried to swap my eSIMs over.

VIVIFI need to remove the eSIM from previous phone then can reinstall on the new phone.

I assumed Eight is the same i removed my eSIM and now royally tio screwed lol. non-existent customer service and can only go to service center to get a replacement QR code. really pay peanuts get monkeys :(
Just went to Eight service centre at Pasir Ris Bus Interchange to convert eSim to physical SIM as changing phone.

To my pleasant surprised, it only take 5min and FOC. No hassle at all if able to go service centre 🤣

I went there 2 weeks ago to convert to physical SIM also - the customer service is good, fast and pleasant. :D

Primarily for SMS OTP on airplane mode. About 99.99% of my inbound cellular calls are spam calls.
Makes a huge difference for battery life, both in terms of run time per charge as well as extending the service life of the battery. I have a 4 year old iPhone with 93% battery life and a 18 month at 98% battery life.

Also great for OTP while overseas, it works even if roaming doesn't.

Free roaming call & roaming beyond 13 countries is just pointing out the drawbacks, not a major concern for me. Being charged for unintended inbound call is a far bigger concern, which is applicable for Singtel MVNOs.
Simba & eight both work for me, although there are times I do wish for faster performance.

How to receive and send SMS/calls on airplane mode? It doesn't show wifi calling even when connected to wifi on airplane mode

That means wifi calling isn't active. If wifi calling is active you should see the wifi calling logo (samsung) and that you are connected to the telco.

Check that you have wifi calling correctly enabled. On some router/firewall you might also need to allow IKE/IPSec traffic.

SH and M1 ain't the best in sg.

Singtel is best in sg.
SH some area ok only. Overall better than M1. M1 is the worst in sg. Used them for 2 year and banned them for life. Even worst than Simba 7 years ago.

ST engineering amk also don't have signal. For that 2 years. I cannnot even use phone during working. Fml

yeah. personally experience with ST, SH, M1, TPG (before Simba). This is for 4G. Ever since MVNOs started in lion city, i had shifted to MVNOs and i stick to 4G plans only becos cheapest.

indeed m1, TPG are not to my satisfaction.
SH not too bad but do have some blind spots.
ST is overall good even with very minor blind spots.

Seems like even roaming experience with different telcos in overseas also the experience varies even roam to the same roaming partners. the funny thing is also that the 4G/5G on the roaming partners are the same but experience can be totally different.

So not sure if this is the same situation while 5G infra is actually shared among all telcos but experience can be the same.

I thought this is a feature on iOS and not telco based?

no le. telco must support also i think. but lion city maybe all telcos will support this to combat the scam calls as general.

becos bolehland telcos do not support this and it does not show up as an option in their iphones even updated to ios 26 today.

Changing phone soon and currently using the eight esim as my secondary line. Can head down to the eight service center and request for new esim QR code first, then when change phone later to install the esim via the QR code later?

Anybody went to JB recently?
My phone can hardly connect at R&F mall, tried to manually connect to other telco also cannot.

I walked back to JB Sentral, more than halfway back then I could see 4G.

if u read the earlier posts, i think more and more including myself and u had flagged out the connection issue while roaming in jaybee.

with so many cases surfaced out, i seriously think that it should eight specific issue, as vivifi has no issue.

It was ok last time I was at R&F.
Maybe I will consider porting out after using up my credits.

To be fair to eight, have you tested with other starhub lines before coming to the conclusion that it is eight?

I have also encountered similar issue with my M1 Maxx line while the eight line immediately connects. Vice Versa

all the MVNOs (even under the same telco) have different user experience.

while there are so many eight users can share the real experience to ascertain things, why need to compare with others even?
if there is only one or few cases, maybe it is isolated cases, with so many ppl have raised the same experience, maybe it should the otherwise, based on what u can said the real experiences from many users are not true and u should prove otherwise instead.

i did say i have the same issue, didn't i?

You compared it VIVIFI?
And i can't ask you to understand maybe it could be starhub problem instead?

Look, i am not here to fight nor saying eight is perfect like some other guy that was recently active on here. Eight roaming has issues long ago with Edge network connectivity and no signal and i agree with that.

understand the fact i am comparing to the vivifi to prove that at the same spot, same roaming partner to ascertain that it is not the roaming partner to isolate that the prob lies on eight (EDGE issue).

and i pinpointing on this eight issues that many are facing. what is ur point of ur question of the fairness?
eight is using SH's network, but any issue u faced, u need to deal with eight and not SH (not as if SH will entertain u just becos eight is using SH's network). as a user of eight, any issue, obviously it is still eight's issue and for them to fix.

even if it was really SH's issue, what's the difference? eight is still affected and to eight users, it is still eight issue as well.

But airplane mode isn't enabled in your screenshot. There is no SIM status to display if airplane mode is on, so you can't wifi call anyway
