Supposedly it's China Unicom that managed to work a deal with Apple to launch iPhone Air first as both Unicom and Apple worked together with the China authority, but China Mobile and China Telecom saw that Unicom has the advantage thus both 'blocked' the deal and start negotiation with Apple too, which then caused the delay.
Wow... so cutthroat?

Is there other than Maxx have base plan?
There are a few with some sort of base plan, but what is available and T&C varies widely among them.
Typically you get free incoming call & SMS. AFAIK only maxx has limited outgoing call/sms/data.

What is common among them is that you see them often in retailer shops and are using 30 days billing cycle.

Check out Heya, eight, simba.

Only Maxx base plan is FOC, Heya and Simba base plans are just a grace period for you to buy back expired paid plan to continue the service i suppose.
Even Maxx's base plan is supposed to be for the same purpose, just that their grace period has more favorable T&C.

I lost my Maxx number when never use

Anyway, is eight $8 plan better than zero1 $7?

I feel like eight always have those 1 for 1 top up or got discount for top up in shopee or events from time to time

End up might be cheaper than zero1 $7

But ppl been complaining about eight reception lately, dunno if it's due to their success n many ppl sign up

There is a difference in network, moi poco f1 can only call by volte using eight and not zero1.

It would seems that your phone has VoLTE support for starhub but not Singtel.
In that case you would probably run into the same issue with other Singtel based MVNO as well.

5G enabled SIM Only Plan Comparisons.

Different offerings may offer more data but most of users cannot use up the data anyway. Roaming benefits may be more useful for some use cases.

The following list does not consider special Senior Plan offer.

1) Singtel SIM Only Plus recontract offer --> S$15.28 per month

2) MyRepublic 5G --> minimum at S$9.99 per month
https://myrepublic.net/sg/5g/

3) M1 Maxx 5G --> minimum at S$10 per month (red flags below)
https://maxx.sg/#buy-now

4) SIMBA 5G --> minimum S$10 per month (but kind of 4G speed in reality)

5) Circles.Life 5G --> minimum S$12 per month
https://www.circles.life/sg/5g/

From A7997A for CL 5G offer.
S$9.90 for 1year - 5G 0.98TB w 8GB roaming PRT1TB990OO3YK/PRT1TB9904T84Q

6) Eight 5G --> minimum at S$14.28 per month
https://www.eight.com.sg/

7) M1 Bespoke SIM Only --> minimum at S$14.95 per month
https://www.m1.com.sg/personal/sim-plan

8) Gomo 5G+ plans --> minumum at S$18.33 per month (not counting the 1st month offer)
https://gomo.sg/

9) Giga 5G --> minumum at S$18.33 per month for normal 5G plan.

Giga also has a 4G plan with free 5G upgrade at S$15.28 per month (from sango65)
https://www.giga.com.sg/mobile

Giga S$10 per month 4G plan users may get free 5G upgrade.

it appears GIGA has 5G plan at $15.28 - 300GB

https://www.giga.com.sg/mobile

GIGA-5G.png

$10 plan got free 5G upgrade already

10) Starthub Star SIM Only Plan --> minimum at S$22 per month
https://consumer.starhub.com/personal/store/mobile-plans

11) ViviFi 5G (now NSA, soon to be upgraded to 5G+) --> minimum at S$15 per month
https://www.vivifi.me/#plansMainPage

12) Zero1 5G (now NSA, soon to be upgraded to 5G+) --> minimum at S$15 per month
https://zero1.sg/plans/zero1-standard

13) Zym 5G (now NSA, soon to be upgraded to 5G+) --> minimum at S$15.10 per month
https://zym.sg/

Note: Zym5G S$10.10 per month plan has 180 days free 5G.

Maxx cannot do voice call overseas. And cannot receive SMS outside of those included roaming countries. That's a red flag

Haha, as you mentioned, all will become 5G SA enabled in the end.

I added the SingTel based MVNOs in the list. I also put the note that and 5G+ will be enabled soon for them.

5G SA is anyway the way to go. 4G LTE and 5G NSA will eventually go away.

6G will probably arrive in Singapore in 2030 (also US and China). Qualcomm is even talking about 6G in 2028.
