I saw an older post regarding roaming data — if you exceed the limit, the internet just gets cut off, and you don’t get charged extra. I’m wondering if the same applies to roaming calls. If I exceed my VoLTE or IDD minutes while overseas, will the call just stop, or could it incur additional charges? I just want to avoid any bill shock.

no extra cost for help, no matter data or voice.

this is the good thing about eight.

u will not incur additional cost other than the bundled data and calls/sms given to u.

Something like (based on ignore's photo):
Roaming calls to home
Roaming inbound calls allocation
Calls to roaming country local numbers

You won't be charged pay per use for sure.



There is a 60 days grace period, but enforcement appears to be a bit relax so you might get more than that, but of course you can't count on it.

Once you renew, it starts from today. This is unlike Simba, which starts from day of expiry.
I believe Maxx also starts from day of renewal.

So, technically, I can keep my 8 mobile number alive by paying only 4 months in a year?

this is quite awesome, becos this one is only applicable prepaid.

eight really is postpaid but works exactly like prepaid.

postpaid if today one needs to suspend the service for some time e.g. one month or two months, it is not possible for most or one will need to pay monthly subscription to suspend, e.g. starhub postpaid will need sgd5++ per month to suspend and this fee is not pro-rated.

while eight if i want to 'suspend' for 2 months, it is also possible. :p

Indeed Eight seems to be pretty good in this aspect. Originally I wanted to convert one of my three StarHub Prepaid cards to Eight. The card is used by my daughter and I topped up S$10 for her every month. But Eight does not allow port-in of StarHub Prepaid card users (but alllow M1/Singtel prepaid card users to port in) so I was just waiting.

Now StarHub will convert the existing StarHub Prepaid Card users to new StarHub Prepaid Plan, which seems to be even better than Eight in this aspect since it allows 120 days of grace time.

11. What will happen if I do not renew my StarHub Prepaid Plan?

At your plan expiry, you'll enter a 120-day grace period. During this time, you can still receive calls and SMS. To resume full service, simply top up.

to have the longest validity, prepaid is good. but eight $8 is cheap enough even for kids use, and best part is eight has no extra usage, no matter how u use, even use in overseas (roaming) also same.

one can easily port to simba first then port back to eight. :p.

Yes, that was the plan but I was just too lazy.

BTW, Singtel 4G is not that good, M1 4G is bad, looks like Starhub 4G is the only one which is still usable based on my own experiences (Singtel) and the experiences of my colleagues (Singtel, M1, Starhub, Eight, CMLink, etc).

But now I see the new Starhub Prepaid plan and I want to try that first to see how it goes.
